- Maintain nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
- Assure quality of care by developing and interpreting the client's and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to SANC and other governing regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments
- Assist with departments undergoing inspections with DOH, DOMH, and DSD
- Ensure Legal compliance at all times related to:
- Registration with Department of Social Development, Department of Health
- Disciplinary procedures according to the Labour Act and adhere to the company’s policies and Codes of Conduct

OverviewSupported by: Lead Nurse / Deputy Lead Nurse.
Hours: Contracted hours will be agreed upon before starting in the post and will correspond with our respite service which is pre-booked throughout the year. There may also be scope for bank nurses to cover additional shifts on an ad hoc basis.
Shifts: 7:30 am to 2:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Night shifts run from 8 pm to 8 am and you may occasionally be asked to cover a night if the regular night team are unavailable.
Your primary role will be to provide high-quality palliative care in true collaboration with our patients plus their family members and those most important to them. This will include holistic assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of person-centred care plans. You’ll serve as a role model for team members, providing supervision, motivation, support and encouragement. You’ll be working within a team composed largely of volunteers, some of whom have decades of experience; and you’ll need to embrace the Hospice’s ethos and support our commitment to the evolution of a volunteer care delivery model. You will be supported by the Lead Nurse / Deputy Lead Nurse.

MedAire is looking for experienced registered nurses to join our medical team in Johannesburg. This is a fantastic opportunity for nurses to move from the demands of a clinical environment to an office-based role whilst still applying their nursing expertise.

Experienced registered nurses have the opportunity to utilise their skillset to provide compassionate care and assistance across an international platform within a dynamic office environment.
Your typical day would be:
- Delivering front line telephonic triage of patients in the Aviation and Maritime industries
- Interpreting medical situations by conducting a tailored risk analysis of condition vs geographical location
- Giving telephonic advice to patients, relatives, employers, employees, and other key client stakeholders
- Monitoring and managing open cases to closure to ensure appropriate medical outcome and financial compliance according to current standards.
- Liaising with international medical professionals to obtain medical assessments for patients who are hospitalised or being treated overseas
- Providing pre-travel and evacuation medical assistance in response to customer inquiries, including but is not limited to: coordination of medical evacuation services, and/or provision of health and travel information to clients.
Required Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years clinical practice experience and active SANC registration
- Cruise Ship, Aviation, Maritime or telephonic counselling, medical advice or medical assistance experience will be an advantage for any applicants
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- International Travel Experience
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Effective customer service and telephone skills.
- Information and communications technology (computer) skills
- Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
