JOB DESCRIPTION:
The External Sales Support role exists to drive business growth and customer satisfaction through the strategic promotion and sale of engines, parts, and services to clients in the mining and related sectors.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the incumbent serves as the key representative of the Steelpoort branch on customer sites—developing relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and aligning customer needs with Deutz DieselPower's technical and service offerings
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
- Increase Deutz engine and field service sales through structured engagement with mining operations and related sectors.
- Drive sales of MB and Detroit engines and services through relationship building and solution-based selling.
- Act as the face of the Steelpoort branch on-site, promoting trust and communicating the value of the company's product and service offerings.
- Serve as the link between customers and internal technical/service teams, ensuring alignment between customer expectations and delivery capabilities.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities, including engine replacements, upgrades, and parts sales.
2. CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
- Conduct a minimum of 8 site visits per week to current and prospective customers.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline across mining and industrial operations.
- Generate 3–5 new qualified leads per month to support sustainable business growth.
- Develop and follow up on quotes in collaboration with internal sales support teams.
- Submit weekly sales and market intelligence reports detailing sales activity, lead status, customer feedback, and competitor insights.
- Align engine sales with service plans, parts supply, and technical support packages to provide a full-service offering.
- Ensure a quote-to-sale conversion rate above 25% through effective value communication and relationship management.
3. TECHNICAL PROMOTION:
With support from internal technical and service teams, the External Sales Support role is responsible for:
- Demonstrating the performance advantages of Deutz engines, aligned to the customer's operational needs.
- Promoting the environmental and efficiency benefits of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) as part of the broader engine solution.
- Presenting the strengths and benefits of MB and Detroit engines, positioning them effectively in competitive environments.

- Prepare documents, reports, and presentations (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Maintain accurate records and timelines for all ongoing sales projects and meetings.
2. Operations & Administration
- Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Sales and Management teams.
- Manage internal communications.
- Assist with compiling and distributing weekly updates, reports, and sales tracking documents.
- Maintain internal systems, databases, and shared folders for accuracy and accessibility.
3. Event Coordination
- Assist with the planning and execution of product launches, training sessions, and internal events.
- Coordinate logistics such as venue bookings, catering, materials, and schedules.
- Provide on-site event support and ensure smooth execution within budget and deadlines.
4. Travel & Logistics Management
- Plan and coordinate travel for the Sales and Management teams, including flights, accommodation, and transport.
- Create detailed travel itineraries and manage related expense tracking.
5. Vendor & Product Coordination
- Liaise with online vendors to update and maintain product listings.
- Ensure all listings and marketing details are accurate and aligned with current promotions.
- Assist in coordinating promotional campaigns and cross-functional initiatives between sales and marketing.
Requirements:
Education:
- Matric required; a relevant diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, or Administration is advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in administration, operations, or sales coordination.
- Experience within the beauty, cosmetics, or professional salon industry is beneficial.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with multiple priorities.
- Confident, analytical, and solutions-focused approach to challenges.
Other:
- Valid driver's license and own reliable vehicle (essential).
- Must have reliable childcare arrangements (midday lifts and collections cannot be accommodated).
