The Role

The team works closely with the Portfolio Managers, Distribution Team, Risk Team, the Trading Desk, and external service providers on a day-to-day basis to achieve the highest level of impact by utilizing a combined knowledge base and skill set. The role requires a deep understanding of financial markets and instruments, as well as the ability to contribute to and promote robust operating procedures to create an efficient, responsive, and process-driven operations team. The Operations Analyst will report to the Operations Manager, who reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Process:

  • Contribute to and promote robust operating procedures across the investment management business to create an efficient, responsive, and process-driven operations team.
  • Improve business understanding of operations processes and procedures.
  • Establish and promote enhanced business processes that ensure efficient and effective stakeholder delivery within set expectations and agreed performance standards in the area of accountability and the overall optimization of the value chain for the business, including:
    • Performance of reconciliations.
    • Exception handling, investigation of significant variances, and effective resolution of reconciliation breaks and ad hoc challenges.
    • Monitoring of the operations mailbox and timely execution of stakeholder requests.
    • Take responsibility for daily operational activities.
    • Liaise with stakeholders, run daily operational activities, receive and execute requests promptly.
    • Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions.
    • Liaise with stakeholders to keep them fully apprised of the progress of queries.
  • Reconciliation of trade and fund dealing activity, corporate action and Proxy voting management, cash management and spot FX instruction, reconciliation of cash, positions, and performance.

People:

  • Share and transfer product, process, and systems knowledge to colleagues.
  • Collaborate and work with internal teams to deliver required service levels.
  • Ensure achievement of own performance objectives.
  • Share information with other team members regarding successes, issues, trends, and ideas.
  • Participate in own professional development and career path.

Ideal Qualifications

  • BCom (Hons) preferred or appropriate finance qualification.

Ideal Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a related role within the financial services industry (preferably experience working in operations in the fund management industry).
  • Experience with reconciliations and cash management.
  • Relevant computer skills and system experience.
  • Experience in a programming language would be advantageous, but not required.
  • Knowledge of working with custodians would be advantageous.
  • Relevant market knowledge.

Payment Operations Analyst: Our client is seeking an experienced Payment Operations Analyst to manage the financial operations of their mobile wallet payment systems across Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Tanzania. This is a business-focused finance role responsible for reconciliation, compliance, and the commercial management of high-volume mobile money transactions, including M-Pesa, MTN Mobile Money, and Airtel Money. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Reconciliation
  • Perform daily reconciliation of mobile wallet transactions across M-Pesa, MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, and other providers.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies within 24-hour cycles.
  • Maintain reconciliation accuracy across all payment channels.
  • Prepare monthly settlement reports and variance analyses.
  • Manage exception queues and ensure timely resolution of failed transactions.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with payment regulations in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Tanzania.

Commercial & Relationship Management

Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly payment performance reports.

  • Support month-end financial close processes.
  • Prepare management dashboards for payment KPIs.
  • Assist with quarterly audits and financial statement preparation.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (preferred).
  • 2–4 years’ experience in payment operations, financial reconciliation, or a related field.
  • Experience with mobile money or digital payment systems (highly advantageous).
  • Knowledge of East African payment regulations (advantageous).

We are hiring Sales Operations Analysts to join a team of experts who help Canonical sales teams achieve their business goals. The Sales Operations team drives continuous process and data quality improvement to ensure orders are processed correctly. The successful candidate will be a leader who shows initiative in improving the way the team works, maintaining compliance and associated governance.

The success of the role is measured against increasing the velocity of deals and the quality of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data used to drive key business decisions. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver and team player who is passionate about the opportunity to partner with sales leadership, is also passionate about our role in the technology industry bringing open source to a wider audience of innovators and enterprises, and will design and drive programs in support of Canonical's continued success.

Location: These roles will be based remotely in the EMEA and Americas regions.

The role entails

  • Support all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the sales function globally
  • Review opportunities for accuracy and provision orders on successful closure of a deal
  • Support the Sales Operations Manager to improve sales data quality and processes
  • Report on data quality metrics to executive level stakeholders
  • Implement surveys and define metrics for executive level stakeholders
  • Support the sales team globally on CRM and other sales operations systems
  • Deliver sales metrics, dashboards and other ad-hoc analytical tasks
  • Lead automation and streamline the Lead to Order process

What we are looking for in you

  • An exceptional academic track record from high school and university
  • Experience in a sales operations/sales order processing role
  • Experience in a technology subscription-based business
  • Experience driving data quality improvement
  • Energetic, thoughtful, systematic approach, focused on robust, repeatable and scalable outcomes
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work productively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization on a global scale
  • Ability to manage across boundaries and communicate effectively, particularly working with Sales, Legal, Finance and Marketing teams
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long
