Role Overview : As Inventory Management Specialist, you will be responsible for Africa’s inventory forecast, analyses, optimization, compliance and budget fulfilment. This role requires close collaboration with our warehouse / store’s personnel at various clients’ sites across Africa and other stakeholders (including supporting our UAE central warehouse).

What you’ll do :

Inventory Forecast & Planning based on fleet profile and consumption for each site.

Ability to perform complex analyses for inventory optimization opportunities identification, including SLOB (Slow-moving and obsolete) stock.

Organize & support quarterly stock counts across all sites. System coordination to enable effective stock levels, MRP and full lead times are considered.

Analyze and improve $ / kVA and inventory turns performance by site / country

Stakeholder communication / collaboration to review critical parts requirements, monitoring inventory levels daily to avoid stock-outs, etc.

Budget and ISO / audit compliance fulfilment.

You’ll have the following skills and experience :

5 years of experience in supply chain management with a deep understanding of inventory, logistics and materials management

Advanced skills in MS Excel will be advantageous (formulas, tables, analyses, etc.)

Ability to identify improvement areas and experience with systems and process changes

A positive can-do attitude, highly motivated individual, committed to delivering results

Willingness to take ownership of problems and drive solutions. A proactive problem-solver, creative thinking and innovative solutions / ideas to complex supply chain challenges

Skilled at relationship building, bringing people together across multiple interfaces and ability to collaborate with stakeholders throughout the supply chain

The role focuses on improving warehouse layout, inventory control, dispatch, and goods deliveryensuring critical materials are consistently available to support mining and engineering operations. You'll also help develop and embed best practice procurement processes and sustainable operational improvements.

The position requires weekly travel, with weekends at home.

Key Responsibilities

• Warehouse Optimisation
• Redesign layout for flow efficiency, zoning, and use of vertical space.
• Ensure yard and storage of large items are organised and protected.
• Inventory Management
• Apply ABC analysis to categorise stock based on value and turnover.
• Implement cycle counting to improve accuracy.
• Optimise safety stock levels using demand forecasting.
• Support Just-In-Time (JIT) practices to reduce excess holding costs.
• Dispatch & Logistics
• Define mining and engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) requirements.
• Develop replenishment cycles for underground and surface operations.
• Create delivery schedules that match operational demand.
• Process Improvement
• Identify bottlenecks and implement Lean/6S principles to eliminate waste.
• Establish and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Cross-train stores staff to improve flexibility and reduce process risk.
• Technology & Reporting
• Integrate Warehouse Management System (WMS) for stock tracking.
• Implement barcode/RFID scanning for accuracy and speed.
• Support development of reporting dashboards for "single version of truth."

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years experience in warehouse, stores, or inventory management.
• Strong background in mining supply chain or heavy industry logistics.
• Hands-on experience with Lean/continuous improvement tools (6S, Kaizen, value stream mapping).
• Proven ability to design and implement warehouse/inventory control systems.
• Familiarity with BOM management and mining engineering/materials supply.
• Strong understanding of WMS, ERP, and digital inventory tracking tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Management .
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma or Warehouse Management is advantageous.
• Prior mining or large-scale industrial experience strongly preferred.
