The role you’ll contribute:

Provides direct patient care and support within the nursing career pathway and profession. Collaborates with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to inform and monitor patient treatment plans. Manages and updates patient records and documentation.

Plans and delivers competent, compassionate, and cost-effective nursing care. Assesses and evaluates it post delivery. Provides physical and psychological support to patients and their families. Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and standards.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• Bachelor's of Nursing required; Master's of Nursing preferred.
• One or more years of leadership or management experience.
• Work experience in healthcare settings.
• One or more years of acute care experience.
• CPR (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) and Certified Post-Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) certifications are preferred.

The Registered Nurse will render and promote cost-effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies and will further be responsible for:

Direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs.

Key work output and accountabilities include:

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Attend handover of report at shift commencement
• Recognize life-threatening situations
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care
• Promote patient’s health and wellbeing
• Give a detailed handover to the ward’s sister
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure all stock is well controlled and managed, charged and credited appropriately

Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives, and visitors.

Qualifications and skills required include:

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council
• Registered Nurse or Equivalent NQF7 qualification
• Matric qualification
• Minimum of 2 years in Theatre and Operating room
• Advanced computer literacy
• Capacity of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation
