About the Role :

As the Open Source Intelligence Specialist, you will :

  • Direct and lead the collection of open-source intelligence using cutting-edge tools across the internet, social media, deep and dark web platforms.
  • Conduct advanced investigative searches to detect risks including money laundering, terror financing, human trafficking, cybercrime, and cryptocurrency misuse.
  • Trace and analyse blockchain transactions, crypto flows, and financial trails using forensic and analytical tools.

  • Represent the client on domestic and international forums, advising on legal and anti-money laundering matters.

  • Testify in legal matters when required
  • Mentor junior analysts and act as the technical lead within the OSINT capability.

Minimum Requirements :

  • A relevant university degree
  • At least 6 years' experience in intelligence, cyber investigations, or forensic analysis.
  • Strong experience in blockchain analysis, cryptocurrency tracking, and tracing transactions via general ledger investigations.
  • Proven knowledge of discreet OSINT tools, deep / dark web navigation, and domain analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial crime typologies such as money laundering, terror financing, and trafficking networks.

    • Proven ability to understand and explain the behaviours of different types of complex organisations, from criminal syndicates to financial enterprises.
    • Certifications in intelligence analysis or specific OSINT tools (i2 Analyst Notebook, i2 Base Essentials, Maltego or TRM Labs) will be advantageous
    • Proven ability to translate complex information sets into specific recommendations that can be actioned by customers to enhance their financial intelligence operations.
    • Familiarity with cyber threats, defences, motivations and techniques.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, and defences, especially related to blockchain applications.
    • Must have advanced skills to deploy Open-Source technology from Open-Source Software Platforms (Linux).
    • Must have the ability to conduct thorough online research and evaluate the credibility of information sources.
    • Must be able to lead a team through project management techniques.
    • Cyber Security - Understand different operating systems and network security concepts.
    • Internet capabilities - Understand Domain Name Services (DNS), Transmission.
    • Control Protocols over the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Small Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), IMAP, Secure Shell (SSH), Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
    • Working knowledge of how malicious code operates and technical vulnerabilities are exploited.
    • Understand the tactics, tools and procedures used by cyber criminals, especially the dark web and The Union Ring network.
    • Produces timely written recommendations and assessments.
    • Knowledge in foreign languages is a plus.

    Purpose Of The Job

    To analyse data systems, create automated systems to retrieve information from database and compile reports. The department will also use data to solve problems, to turn data into information and information into insight that will lead to informed business decisions, and to create detailed specifications that specify data sources, data flows, data transformations, data storage and reporting. The person appointed to this position will report to the Senior Specialist: Data Analysis.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Create detailed specifications that specify data sources, data flows, data transformations, data storage and reporting;
    • Produce documentation such as source-to-target-maps, data dictionaries and data models;
    • Create test cases and scenarios used to ensure quality assurance;
    • Interact and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to identify data sources, find data definitions for master and meta data as well as formulate and implement solutions;
    • Promote the use of existing enterprise data standards to enhance data quality, ensure constant compliance and adherence to data governance principles;
    • Process live and confidential data according to specified guidelines;
    • Evaluate changes and updates to source production systems that could impact reporting and eventually business decisions;
    • Interpret data, analyze results and interpret trends enabling continuous improvement in data quality and overall business performance;
    • Defines, implements and standardises metrics, reports and dashboards for the business;
    • Deliver key metrics, reports and dashboard with interpretation.

    A degree or B Tech in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or a related discipline with at least 4 years’ working experience in a field where analysis of data was major, preferably in a financial services sector. Proven experience building logical and physical data models using industry best practices, patterns and frameworks. Demonstrate knowledge of database and data warehouse design. Knowledge of BI methodologies. Practical technical experience using database management tools and reporting tools.
