Lawyers against Abuse (LvA)
seeks a dynamic, dedicated leader who is passionate about our mission to join our team as the Executive Director. Reporting to and working closely in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director should be a seasoned leader and coach, with the ability to operate on both strategic and managerial levels. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organisation's operations, including fundraising, program development, financial management, compliance and staff supervision.

In addition to their operational responsibilities, the Executive Director will be a passionate leader who inspires others to engage with our mission. They will work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that the organisation is fulfilling its mission and serving its clients effectively. The Executive Director will also be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners and community leaders.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Work with the Board of Directors and staff to develop and implement the organisation's strategic plan.
  • Articulate the organisation's vision, mission, theory of change, statement of need, unique value proposition and overall strategic direction to staff, volunteers, partners, stakeholders and donors.
  • Model and promote the organisation's values and culture, setting a high standard for ethical and effective behaviour in all interactions.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration and open
  • Supervise and develop the organisation's Deputy Director and Finance Manager, providing guidance, motivation and support to help them succeed in their roles.
  • Identify and foster relationships with potential strategic partners who align with the organisation's mission and goal, including government agencies, NGOs or community partners.

Fundraising and Development

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive financing strategy that aligns with the organisation's mission and strategic plan.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with foundations, development partners, corporates, high- level donors and other potential funding sources, working closely with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders as needed to engage donors and secure donations.
  • Build trust and rapport with potential and existing donors to persuade them to invest in the organisation's mission including presenting compelling proposals, articulating the organisation's impact and value proposition, addressing any concerns or inquiries and delivering high-quality donor reports.
  • Ensure that the organisation raises enough funds to meet its annual goals, monitoring progress toward fundraising goals and making adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and implement donor stewardship plans to maintain strong relationships with donors and secure ongoing support, including regular communication, recognition and engagement
  • Lead a team of staff, volunteers and board members to plan and execute an annual fundraising event.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in nonprofit fundraising and development and work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders to continuously improve the organisation's fundraising efforts.

Board Engagement & Development

  • Provide regular updates to the board of directors regarding the organisation's operations and performance including, but not limited to, presentations at quarterly board meetings. Seek board input on critical decisions.
  • Plan and prepare meeting agendas, in consultation with the Board Chairperson, and information pack for board meetings.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and induction of new board
  • Support all board functions, including facilitating meetings, ensuring policy compliance, facilitating annual board evaluations and aligning the work of board committees.

Financial Management

  • Oversee the organisation's financial management in partnership with the Finance Manager, ensuring that the organisation is financially sound and has strong financial controls in place.
  • Develop and oversee the organisation's annual budget, working with the Finance Manager and other staff members to ensure that it aligns with the organisation's goals and priorities.
  • Monitor financial performance on an ongoing basis, tracking revenue and expenses and making adjustments as needed to ensure that the organisation is operating within its budget and in alignment with specific donor budgets.
  • Ensure that financial reports are accurate and provided to the Board of Directors in a timely manner, working with the Finance Manager to provide detailed financial analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Support Finance Manager throughout annual audit, as
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in nonprofit financial management and ensure that the organisation's financial policies and procedures are in compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Human Resources

  • Support recruitment, onboarding and induction of new staff
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that support the organisation's mission and goals, in consultation with the Board of Directors.
  • Cultivate a culture of regular feedback among staff members, both in the form of ongoing coaching and formal performance evaluations, to ensure that they are meeting performance expectations and growing in their roles.
  • Nurture a positive and empowering workplace culture that promotes accountability, collaboration, inclusion, employee wellness, innovation, satisfaction and retention.
  • Support line managers with conducting disciplinary processes in compliance with LvA's disciplinary policy and the BCEA, as needed.

Operations and Technology

  • Ensure an enabling environment that fosters staff productivity, innovation and performance (e.g. facilities, equipment, etc.).
  • Ensure proper hardware and software are in place for fundraising, collaboration, document creation and storage, communication, productivity and record keeping.
  • Create and maintain policies to ensure the use of the most relevant and efficient technology and planning/budgeting for upgrades needed for future success.
  • Establish robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive information and ensure that updates and upgrades are followed to maintain technological infrastructure and keep systems running smoothly and securely.

Programme Development and Oversight

  • Ensure LvA's programmatic work is of the highest quality, is trauma-informed, adheres to recognised best practices and complies with all legal and ethical standards.
  • In collaboration with the Deputy Director, lead an annual work-planning process in alignment with LvA's strategic plan.
  • Support the Deputy Director in managing the day-to-day operation of programmes and evaluating programme outcomes on an ongoing basis, using data and feedback from clients and other stakeholders to make adjustments and improvements as needed.
  • Expand programmes and services as appropriate to fulfil the organisation's mission, working with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and

Marketing, Communication and Public Relations

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to increase the organisation's visibility and reach, including the organisation's website, social media channels, newsletters and annual reports.

Position Overview

CSSA, having launched our main fundraising campaign on 20th August, is expanding the

board of directors (executive and non-executive) to reflect the intended national outreach of

the programme.

The Independent Director will serve on the Board of Directors of Craft School South Africa

and aid the board in strategic guidance, governance oversight, and specialist expertise to

ensure the organisation achieves its mission with transparency, sustainability, and

accountability. This role requires independence and the ability to provide objective, high-level

input while maintaining appropriate oversight without involvement in daily operations.

Contribute to building a strong and supportive relationship between staff leadership and governance bodies, representing the best interests of the Executive Director.

A “zero tolerance to office politics” stance is maintained and directors attend to disagreements between staff swiftly and decisively with full transparency to everyone involved.



Qualifications and Experience





Master’s degree or equivalent experience in management, environmental studies, social sciences, or related field.

At least 10 years’ leadership experience in NGOs, international organizations, or movements, with a minimum of 5 years in Director roles.

Demonstrated experience in Africa, with strong networks and knowledge of the socio-political landscape.

Track record in cross departmental, external relations, stakeholder, program and effective budget planning and management.

About The Organisation And The Role
A communal organization dedicated to safeguarding Jewish continuity and Orthodoxy in Cape Town seeks an experienced, organized, and social media-savvy Office Coordinator/PA to serve as the primary point of contact and front office representative.

This role offers administrative support to the Executive Director and general Office Management.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • General office administration and projects coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for queries, reception, front office, messaging, scheduling, and telephone duties for the Executive Director
  • Handle general correspondence on behalf of the Executive Director.
  • Provide support to the Management Committee on all project-related administrative tasks.
  • Manage meeting room bookings and coordinate catering.
  • Coordinate events and oversee all matters related to the running of the office.
  • Liaise with UOS JHB and the Office of The Chief Rabbi.
  • Take minutes of meetings as and when required (including after-hours meetings).
  • Marketing, fundraising and social media administration
  • Manage content for Facebook, Instagram, websites, and other social media platforms.
  • Design, implement, and maintain donor databases.
  • Oversee donor communications.
  • Compose thank-you, mazaltov, and condolences messages.

Required Skills & Experience
Acting as the first point of call for all queries, the right incumbent must have the following:

  • Education and qualification
  • Matric is essential, undergraduate degree is advantageous.
  • Work experience and industry exposure
  • Atleast 5 years' previous experience in senior coordination, project administration or administration position is essential.
  • Exposure to marketing and communication related duties is desirable.
  • The applicant assuming this position could be liaising with the highest Orthodox leadership structures and as such, respect for Orthodoxy and adherence to a modest dress-code at work are essential.
  • Solid computer skills
  • Essential: Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experienced in managing online communications, including MailChimp, web, and social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of graphic design applications is advantageous.
  • Customer-focused with a friendly demeanour and a passion for service excellence.
  • Trustworthy and reliable, with the ability to manage confidential information effectively.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in responding to queries, handling complaints, and managing difficult situations and personalities with calm and rational demeanour

Executive Personal Assistant to the Managing Director – Wine Estate & Hospitality

Location: Stellenbosch

Reporting to: Managing Director (MD)

Working Hours: Flexible, including occasional evenings and weekends as required by business operations.

We are seeking a highly professional and proactive Executive Personal Assistant (PA) to support the Managing Director of a dynamic and fast-paced Wine Estate & Hospitality business. This role requires exceptional organisational skills, discretion, and the ability to adapt to a flexible and sometimes unpredictable schedule. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supporting C-level executives and an understanding of the operational demands within the wine & hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executive Support: Provide high-level administrative, secretarial, and operational assistance to the MD.
  • Schedule & Travel Management: Coordinate the MD's calendar, schedule internal and external meetings, and manage travel plans, including local and international arrangements.
  • Communication Management: Draft, review, and send correspondence on behalf of the MD. Act as the primary point of contact between the MD and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Meeting Coordination: Organise and prepare for meetings, including compiling agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Project Support: Assist the MD with ongoing business projects, research, and ad-hoc tasks to ensure business and personal objectives are met efficiently.
  • Office Oversight: Maintain an organised and professional office environment for the MD and executive team.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Confidentiality & Discretion: Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Prioritisation & Time Management: Help the MD manage workload, prioritise commitments, and remain focused on strategic goals.
  • Flexibility & Availability: Adapt to changing schedules, work demands, and occasional after-hours commitments, especially during peak hospitality periods or major wine events.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
  • Office Administration / Secretarial Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience supporting a senior executive (MD, CEO, or equivalent)
  • Experience in the hospitality, travel, or wine industry is highly desirable
  • Must have own reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and proactive in problem-solving
  • Based in Cape Town or Stellenbosch
