Job Description
To assist the Head of Finance in providing the Business Unit (BU) with a robust performance management system aligned with the company's financial goals and balanced scorecard. To optimize sustainable profit performance by offering necessary decision-making frameworks and support.
• Maintain the BU financial model that identifies key operational profit drivers and aligns with company and BU strategy. Use this model to inform commercial decisions to achieve BU financial goals.
• Ensure monthly performance reporting for the BU and groups, highlighting variances and recommending actions to improve profitability.
• Maintain BU scorecards aligned with the corporate scorecard, with relevant performance measures integrated into monthly reviews.
• Conduct in-depth profitability analyses on key financial risks and opportunities, supporting commercial decision-making with clear insights and recommendations presented to BU leadership.
• Review key business initiatives, generate business cases, and support their presentation to the Investment Committee, ensuring benefits are delivered.
• Contribute effectively to the BU’s financial plans, including the Integrated Business Plan (IBP) and annual budgets, engaging stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment.
• Provide accurate, timely forecasts aligned with stakeholder expectations and business performance.
• Analyze budget and forecast variances, recommending corrective actions to improve profitability.
• Identify cost management opportunities and recommend strategies to enhance shareholder returns.
• Receive positive feedback from BU leadership on contributions to financial performance.
• Play an active role in delivering the BU Finance Strategy within the team.
• Qualifications: CA (SA) with 2+ years retail experience; B Com H with 5+ years post-articles experience in retail.
• Skills: Develop and interpret complex financial models; communicate financial concepts clearly; assess and manage BU performance; produce and present financial reports; influence decision-making; analyze financial data; communicate effectively with senior management; motivate others; utilize decision support technologies like Qliksense, Cognos, Excel.

- Review business initiatives to ensure that they meet the required returns and support the BU in presenting cases to the Investment Committee.
- Contribute positively to financial performance as recognized by the Foods Trading Head and the Trading team.
