Our client is an established food manufacturer, part of a larger global group, with multiple sites worldwide. Due to growth & CI Projects at the site, they are looking for a number of multi-skilled shift engineers to join their production & packaging team.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned, reactive maintenance and safety checks on all high-speed food production lines, packaging machinery, conveyors, metal detectors, labellers, baggers, checkweighers, PLC's, control panels, robotics, depositors
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding, repairs, stripdowns & overhauls
  • Working on motors, gearboxes, VSD's, inverters, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, drives, bearings
  • Improving plant availability, reliability and continuous improvement work
  • Monitor contractors on site, ordering spares & parts

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
  • Ideally have completed a recognised apprenticeship
  • HNC / HND qualified in Engineering
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding and problem solving skills
  • Previously have dealt with industrial processing & equipment and manufacturing systems
  • Must have worked in a similar food manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Knowledge of electrical safety isolation procedures would be beneficial
  • Must have worked on motors, sensors, inverters, gearboxes, VSD's, pneumatics, drives
  • Experience of using SAP would be beneficial
  • Advantageous if worked with PLC systems
  • Any experience of working in an ATEX / CompEX environment would be great

People Management:

Candidate Profile
  • A professional qualification/certification in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) or Equivalent
  • A minimum of 4 - 5 years working experience in the Operations, in the downstream of Petrochemical or LPG industry
  • Knowledge of the LPG equipment manufacturing industry, e.g.: cylinders, valves, tanks, pumps etc. year advantage.
  • A good knowledge of all relevant legislation that impacts on LPG / petrochemical installations and equipment, e.g. OHS-Act; and all relevant SANS Regulations.

Other key requirements:

  • A high level of verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organising skills.
  • Strong project evaluation and management skills.
  • Computer Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SAP, etc.

Candidate Profile A professional qualification/certification in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) or Equivalent A minimum of 4 - 5 years working experience in the Operations, in the downstream of Petrochemical or LPG industry Knowledge of the LPG equipment manufacturing industry, e.g.: cylinders, valves, tanks, pumps etc. year advantage. A good knowledge of all relevant legislation that impacts on LPG / petrochemical installations and equipment, e.g. OHS-Act; and all relevant SANS Regulations. Other key requirements: A high level of verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Strong planning and organising skills. Strong project evaluation and management skills. Computer Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SAP, etc. Results Orientated. Strategic and holistic thinking. Strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Driver's License Ability to travel between depots in different regions Additional Information The main areas of responsibility include the following: Ensuring compliance with the OHS-Act as imposed under section 16(2) of the OHS-Act, No 85 of 1993 at all Company depots Being a change agent and strategist for improving the performance of the Company by assisting in Continuous Improvement of Maintenance (preventive and corrective), Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Loss Reduction. Ensuring that Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. SAP Maintenance, Sharepoint and CMMS) are in place and to secure/ maintain appropriate external certifications, Providing advice and guidance on Technical and Operational Safety matters, to ensure that the Company complies with statutory requirements and Group Policy and takes a preventative approach to Maintenance and HSEQ in all parts of the company. Manage workshop and related activities to ensure adherence to relevant standards Assist with developing and maintaining a problem-solving culture within the department through facilitating and sustaining root cause analysis practices Compile reports – KPI’s, asset care schedule compliance, artisan utilization, employee management control, financial forecast Provide advice and problem-solving techniques Assist with ensuring compliance with the OHS Act Implement aspects of Manufacturing Capability such as 5 S and fundamental Reliability Centered Maintenance Manage select aspects of engineering spares Develop and implement lubrication management strategies Minimum RequirementsWhat you will need to be considered:QualificationsA BSc / B.
