We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Network Security Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network architectures, with a strong emphasis on Azure networking. This role requires a hands-on approach to fixing issues and ensuring the integrity and security of our network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Network Architecture and Design:

• Design and implement secure network architectures for both on-premises and cloud environments, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Develop scalable and redundant network solutions to meet the demands of our business.
• Create High-level Design (HLD) and Low-level Design (LLD) documentation for network projects.
• Configure and manage Azure networking components, including Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, and WAF.
• Optimize Azure network performance and ensure secure connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments.

Security Implementation and Management:

• Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other network security solutions.
• Remediate vulnerabilities, penetration testing findings, and security audit findings.
• Monitor and analyze network traffic to identify and mitigate potential threats and vulnerabilities.

Firewall Design and Management:

• Plan, configure, maintain, and support firewall solutions.
• Work with various firewall brands (Fortinet, Azure Firewall).
• Develop and enforce firewall policies.
• Investigate and resolve network incidents, providing root cause analysis and remediation measures.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices for network architecture.
• Stay updated on emerging security technologies and threats, recommending solutions to enhance network protection.

Collaboration and Documentation:

• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security measures into new and existing network solutions.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, security policies, and incident response procedures.

Attributes, Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Skills and Experience:

• Strong understanding of Azure networking and security components.
• Expertise in firewall administration, including Fortinet and Cisco.
• Advanced knowledge of network security protocols (IPSec, SSL/TLS, 802.1X, NAC).
• Experience with Microsoft security solutions, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, and DNS security.
• Hands-on experience with VPNs, VLANs, intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS), and DDoS mitigation.
• Knowledge of wireless security technologies and best practices (HP Aruba).
• Background in cybersecurity frameworks and methodologies, including SOC operations.
• Network automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell is a plus).

Desirable Qualifications/Certifications:

• B.Sc. in Computer Science and/or Equivalent
• Certifications (Highly Desirable):Microsoft AZ-700,CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Fortinet NSE.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in network design, security architecture, and firewall management.

Key Performance Objectives

Security Operations

• Support team on security operations
• Operation, maintenance, and monitoring of security infrastructure, such as Intrusion Detection Systems, Vulnerability Scanners and Access Control Servers Firewalls, Identity management suite etc.
• Provide second level technical support to technical staff
• Responsible for all security technical documentation
• Contribute to development and implementation of an incident response process. Monitor and log network security related problems in accordance with valid procedures and specifications
• Analyze log files for elements and services, change work orders and identify unauthorized changes
• Scan technology and document security solutions prospectively to prevent intrusions
• Follow up on new intrusion mechanisms and counter intrusion prevention mechanisms systems and software
• Ensure intrusion / hacking on all resources are detected, reported, and managed by implementing counter measures to minimize impact on the systems and any potential loss of data or information.
• Conduct high level trouble shooting. Including performing regular risk analysis to identify risks and recommend and manage the implementation of appropriate controls to mitigate the risk
• Monitoring of network traffic, particularly for suspicious activities
• Maintenance and support of virtual private network (“VPN’s”)
• Maintenance of the Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (“RAS”) User Database, creation, regular auditing, and revocation of user accounts
• Implementation of proactive measurements against new threats
• Research emerging technologies to keep with Security trends

Project Support

• Involvement in projects to ensure compliance to Information Security best practices.
• Highlight Information Security Risks in critical Projects
• Recommend and enforce Information Security controls on critical projects and current systems
• Conduct special projects as required

Security Control

• Conducting regular security scans of the infrastructure
• Escalate any security related incidents
• Contribute to raising the security awareness amongst Cell C personnel and technical staff
• Analyzing the business impact of vulnerabilities and designing mitigating controls
• Assist in forensic and fraud investigations

Reporting

• Reporting back to management with emphasis on attempted or successful security breaches (internally and externally)
• Reporting on Compliance to best practices and Standards
• Reporting on Vulnerabilities
• Preparing usage, availability, and performance reports on security infrastructure.
• Preparing White papers and Security Reports

Planning and Engineering

• Interface with other divisions and departments within the company to ensure that the E2E planning, design, implementation and management of new products and services relating to all Core Services are fulfilled
• Lead and support design architecture and project planning
• Liaise professionally with the project managers and ensure that the relevant work is carried out optimally
• Vendor interfacing and technology specification creation during project planning phase

Security Roadmap

• Research emerging technologies to keep with Security trends
• Manage and execute Roadmap for new technologies adoption to meet evolving organisational needs
• Lead and support cost efficient and future proof solution design and execution to support and implement projects to meet company strategy
• Provide regular capacity forecasts and strategic network master plans
• Develop training roadmap for the team in line with the new technologies and business requirements
• Make strong relationship with the vendors
• Manage the relationship with key vendors across the organisation
• Manage the vendors performance based on contractual obligations and drive the vendors’ performance to achieve the target
• Monitor and report on vendors performance at a working and functional level
• Drive the vendors to perform the functional roles based on agreed scope of agreements and drive for efficiency
• Provide performance feedback and drive improvements
• Build relationships where value can be maximised
• Provide day-to-day management of vendors performance
• Provide initial point of escalations for management
• Carry and champion the business needs and targets to ensure the vendors to perform
• Resolve technical disputes with the vendor

New Technologies Adoption

• Research emerging technologies to keep with Security trends
• Create and execute Roadmap for new technologies adoption to meet organisational
• Minimum of a BSc in Science/ Engineering, B. Tech (Information Technology)/ comparable Qualifications will be considered
• CISSP or technology related certificates i.e., CISCO, Check Point etc or post graduate qualification added advantage

• Minimum 5 years Information Security related Experience
• Experience must have been gained in the IT arena of a large Enterprise / Telco / Carrier, Cisco FTDs, ISE, DUO and Umbrella, Fortinet and Checkpoint Technologies, Deep packet analytics and tracing, Intermediate routing and switching

Role Overview

The Senior Network Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure network solutions for enterprise-level environments. Key Responsibilities

1. Network Design and Architecture

• Design, implement, and support network architectures for environments ranging from small to enterprise-level, including data center networks.
• Develop scalable and redundant network solutions to meet modern business demands.
• Analyze and optimize network performance, reliability, and security.

1. Network Security Design and Implementation

• Design and deploy robust security measures for networks, including segmentation and zero-trust architectures.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement security patches and updates to defend against threats.

1. Firewall Design and Management

• Plan, configure, maintain, and support firewall solutions across various environments, from small-scale to enterprise deployments.
• Work with Fortinet, Sophos, Palo Alto, and Checkpoint firewalls for advanced security configurations.
• Develop and enforce firewall policies aligned with organizational security objectives.

1. Project Planning and Management

• Manage end-to-end network and security projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
• Develop project scope, technical documentation, and timelines while coordinating with stakeholders.

1. Team Leadership

• Lead the network security team, guiding junior engineers and fostering collaboration.
• Conduct training and knowledge-sharing initiatives for team development.
• Allocate resources effectively to meet operational and project goals.

1. Client Engagement

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their requirements and delivering tailored network and security solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and presentations to ensure clarity and alignment with business needs.

1. ISO 27001 Compliance

• Ensure all network and security operations comply with ISO 27001 standards.
• Participate in audits, develop documentation, and implement corrective actions as required.

Minimum Requirements
