About the Role

1. Provide strategic leadership for end-to-end radio and transmission network planning and optimization across multi-technology environments (2G/3G/4G/5G and future evolution).
2. Define and drive long-term KPI/KQI performance strategies aligned with business objectives and emerging industry standard Identify areas of improvement, and implement solutions.
3. Oversee large-scale network transformation and swap programs, ensuring seamless delivery, operational excellence, and post-deployment performance assurance.
4. Serve as the highest-level technical authority, offering visionary guidance on radio and transmission architecture, spectrum utilization, and network evolution.
5. Engage with C-level stakeholders and external partners to represent technical strategies, influence decision-making, and support strategic customer engagements.
6. Lead cross-regional engineering, operations, and project teams to foster innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge transfer.
7. Mentor senior engineers and technical managers, building organizational capability and ensuring succession planning in critical technology domains.

Requirements:

1. 15+ years of progressive experience in telecom network architecture, planning, optimization, and leadership.
2. Deep technical expertise in wireless communications, including in-depth knowledge of 2G–5G technologies and network design principles.
3. Strong track record in leading KPI/KQI-driven transformation initiatives at national or regional scale.
4. Proven success in managing end-to-end network swap and modernization programs in complex operational environments.
5. Advanced understanding of Radio and Transmission technologies, spectrum planning, and performance engineering.
6. Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders across business and technology domains.
7. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, multicultural teams and drive alignment across engineering, commercial, and customer-facing functions.

Job Description

Although our production and financial results are the engine that drives our business, it is the depth of capability in our people that will continue to determine First Quantum’s ongoing success. Reporting to the Regional IT Manager – EMEA of our IT division, this role will form an integral part of our Regional IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our enterprise network infrastructure with a focus on Cisco technologies. You will ensure network reliability, performance and security to support business operations. The role will demand a high level of technical expertise in network hardware, software and protocols. The incumbent will work within a team of other technical and support staff and may be required to interact with external vendors and customers as well as internal stakeholders such as project managers and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer’s general accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the below:

Install, configure and maintain Cisco network devices, including routers, switches and wireless controllers.

Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for network-related issues, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot latency, bottlenecks and other network issues.

Manage and support Cisco technologies such as Cisco ASA, Meraki, Nexus and Catalyst platforms.

Perform routine network maintenance and upgrades, including firmware updates and patches.

Document network configurations, procedures, and policies.

Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams on projects and system integrations.

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards and best practices.

Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.

Ensure the Group Standards for Networking Architecture and Technology are adhered to in our mining operations.

Adds/Moves and Changes on a Cisco Unified Communications Manager

Deployment and Support of Cloud Manager Video Conferencing hardware

Troubleshoot issues related to connectivity between different devices on the same network segment

Support and troubleshoot network issues and coordinate with vendors.

Maintain detailed technical documentation.

Provide recommendations on improvements to network performance.

Manage vendor/stakeholder relationships and SLAs relating to network services.

Support other teams during new provisioning, ongoing maintenance windows, development work, with IP networking / sysadmin expertise.

Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex problems.

Plan for future growth by implementing scalable solutions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Deep expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting.

• Proven experience with firewall technologies, specifically Cisco Firepower and Cisco ASA.

• In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol stack.
