Job Responsibilities:

This role is expected to be able to resolve the following technical issues with little or no assistance:

  • Workstation operating system issues of any kind.
  • Printer issues of any kind.
  • Standard business application (Office, etc.) issues of any kind.
  • Line-of-business application issues for common applications (SAGE ERP, QuickBooks), and for more niche applications with vendor assistance.
  • Server issues of any kind.
  • Networking issues of any kind.
  • Escalation point for technicians

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience with Windows and Mac OS troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Server 2012 to 2022.
  • Experience with VMWare and Hyper V Virtualization.
  • Experience supporting M365 and Azure.
  • Proficient in Firewall rules, VLAN configuration, access point support and administration, VPN tunnels,
  • Minimum of five years experience in IT Support or a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of Firewalls, Switches, Network architecture, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced understanding of managing, and troubleshooting networks.
  • Advanced understanding of virtualized environments.
  • Experience with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) is highly desirable.
  • Active Network Certifications are preferred.

Job KPI's:

  • First-touch closed: Each ticket that is completed with only one time entry contributes to this number
  • Utilization: The percentage of time that you are on the clock and billing time to client tickets
  • CSAT: Scores filled out by clients using the rating system in tickets

Job Requirements:

  • A home office set up that meets the following:

Required Certifications and Experience: CompTIA Security Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician ( CCENT ) Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching ( CCNA ) Cisco Certified Network Associate Security ( CCNA-Security ) An undergraduate qualification (bachelors degree or equivalent) in the relevant IM Discipline and Technical Proficiency in networking protocols, network security and information management systems is essential. Proficiency in specialized tools and technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network monitoring software, is essential. Analyse and identify root causes of risk and quantify potential business impact. Perform continuous monitoring reviews and measure defined quality and quantity indicators. Interpret policy and explain why work needs to be completed in a particular manner. Assign and re-assign work to ensure output and the elimination of waste. Participate in business initiatives/projects and the different processes involved. 24/7 support principles and competencies. Monitor the work and overall performance of regional network and voice technology systems for region Evaluate and ensure processing performance relating to system and machine utilization, reliability and capacity Forecast financial, physical, and human resource needs to meet established objectives. Manage all licensing exposure within the networking, voice and perimeter security infrastructure. Provide specialized support for network services, concentrating on all aspects of network infrastructure (LAN/WLAN/Mesh) , tailored to meet the needs of all mining operations. Manage all risks relating to Regions Network Infrastructure. Oversee vendor performance to ensure adherence to contractual obligations for services and projects, including those directly impacting the Business Units (BUs). Serve as the primary escalation point for regional incidents or intricate site incidents concerning networking and communication infrastructure. Understand technological trends and use this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprises competitive edge. Oversee and coordinate frameworks, designs, blueprints and restoration plan that isolate problems and implement pre-planned alternative routes or systems to restore service in networks and communication environments. Promote and enforce business and technology standards, as well as best practices, within Networking environments.

Purpose of the Position:

The Network Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible to design, install, maintain and support network infrastructure (WLAN, LAN), including servers, Storage Data centre, Cloud systems, Bandwithand telecommunications systems. The role includes the managing of the Disaster Recovery Centre for optimal performance, security and business continuity.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Post-Matric Diploma in Information Technology/Systems,
  • The following certifications/accreditation:
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert)
  • Windows 2010 or higher,
  • Network Administration
  • VLAN and Firewalls.

Experience

  • Five (5) years IT Operations Management experience in Managing Network Infrastructure
Duties and Responsibilities

Internal Processes

(Infrastructure Management)

  • Develop and Implement Network Infrastructure Master Plan including Data Recovery Plan.
  • Design, install, maintain and support network infrastructure (WLAN, LAN)
  • Ensure that the network is operational and provides optimal performance, security and reliability.
  • Manage the Primary data center and the DR centre for business continuity
  • Plan and manage IT infrastructure projects with budget and timelines
  • Support the Digital transformation strategy and provide innovative solutions for deployment.
  • Maintain network infrastructure hardware and related software, analyse problems and monitor networks, load updates to ensure security and accessibility (procurement and decommissioning of hardware).
  • Report on Network Infrastructure Performance (WLAN and LAN) in accordance to the IT Governance Framework.
  • Draft, implement and maintain relevant Policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure optimal functioning of the network Infrastructure in TIA.
  • Develop and implement standardized Network Infrastructure maintenance processes and procedures that will enable the implementation and management of a consolidated and integrated Infrastructure platform.
  • Ensure employee compliance in TIA to all the IT policies and regulatory legislation.
  • Respond to internal and external audit findings timeously.
  • Comply to all TIA systems when executing network Infrastructure tasks (Performance management, HR, Finance, Stakeholder Information, FMS.
  • Provide input to the IT risk register.
  • Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment in Network Infrastructure resources.
  • Implement and manage the disaster recovery plan for TIA.
  • Procurement and Decommissioning of Hardware.

Stakeholder Relationship

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders in order to deliver Network Infrastructure services in accordance to the expectations of the organisation.
  • Maintain external relationships with service providers and suppliers, and external consultants on specific projects in order to ensure outsourced network Infrastructure service meet the required service standards.

Financial Perspective

  • Provide input to the IT Operations budget with a focus on Network and Infrastructure requirements of the Monitor and track performance against the approved budget and address any anomalies with regards to Network Infrastructure budget.
  • Verify and collate invoices for the service providers used by IT for Network Infrastructure establishment and maintenance.
  • Coordinate Network Infrastructure requirements across the organisation for budget purposes.
  • Manage all ICT Infrastructure Assets in conjunction with Finance.

Learning and Growth

  • KPA's are understood and achieved as agreed upon in the Performance agreement.
  • Review performance against agreed performance standards.
  • Live the values and culture of TIA.
  • Identify and implement development opportunities to ensure continuous improvement of work effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Departmental Information systems and tools are optimally utilized to execute core tasks.

Identify and prioritise infrastructure growth areas to support current operations and future expansion. Engage and collaborate with other business units to ensure IT infrastructure supports broader organisational projects and operational needs. Ensure robust data protection by managing and testing backup processes, guaranteeing reliability and compliance. Oversee the VOIP platform, ensuring clear, cost-effective, and reliable communications across the Group. Maintain and enforce accurate network documentation for compliance, governance, and operational reference. Qualifications Qualification: NQF Level 7 (Bachelor’s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields. Networking certification in Mikrotik advantageous Experience and knowledge Proven experience in network and infrastructure management, ideally with exposure to ISP environments. Proven track record managing enterprise-scale networks with multiple sites. Background in ISP operations (provisioning, monitoring, client support) - advantageous Knowledge of fibre networks, last-mile connectivity, and carrier management. Experience in managing teams Skills and attributes Strong technical expertise in routing, switching (L2/L3), firewalling, and VPN technologies. Proficiency in network monitoring and automation tools. Ability to design and implement secure, scalable infrastructure solutions. Result driven Leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
