MoneyMob Talkabout is a not-for-profit organisation providing financial counselling and capability casework, financial literacy and energy efficiency education and community development programs. We are funded to deliver services to Anangu in Adelaide, the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in northern South Australia, and in the Northern Territory.

- In this exciting role you’ll support, resource and guide our Anangu Advisory Board and Working Group so they can lead community initiatives to address complex financial and economic problems. The Board is called "Uwankara Tjungungku Kulira Wangkanyi Board," which translates to "Everyone Listening, Thinking and Talking Together." A significant part of your responsibilities will involve securing continued funding for this vital cultural governance structure.
- You’ll also plan and implement imaginative community development activities and events relevant to MoneyMob Talkabout’s work - such as during NAIDOC week, Anti-Poverty Week, Literacy and Numeracy Week, Gambling Harm Action Week, National Reconciliation Week etc.
- Additionally, you’ll coordinate and implement MoneyMob Talkabout’s Reconciliation Action Plan
The role will change and grow as UTKW develops, so there will be lots of different things to do!
The Community Development Coordinator should have:- Tertiary qualifications in community development, anthropology, social science or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience working with remote First Nations Australians in a multi-faceted community development role - e.g. facilitation, grant seeking, project planning and implementation, advocacy.
- Knowledge/experience in the area of economic justice, consumer advocacy/financial counselling & capability or ability to quickly acquire
- Track record of implementing creative community activities/events.
- Superior organisational, I.T. and communication skills across all domains (listening, speaking, writing).
- Get to know the town, organisation and team
- Undertake First Nations cultural education
- Meet and start working with the UTKW members
- Travel through beautiful desert country to surrounding remote communities
- Experience desert warmth and humour
Note: remote work requires good psychological and physical fitness. Due to the demands of the environment, this type of work is not recommended for people who have or are experiencing significant and unresolved trauma/mental ill health, major upheavals in life circumstances or certain chronic illnesses.
