We’re looking for an experienced Business Development Manager - Mining sector to join our Africa team to drive business development opportunities for energy solutions for the mining industry sector. The incumbent will be based in Africa and will have the network, ability and credibility to access site-level decision-makers and influencers of mining operators in Africa. The individual will identify new business opportunities, foster key relationships, execute tactical initiatives, drive revenue growth and market penetration in the Africa mining sector. As the MSP, you will represent Aggreko to the customers, build relationships, work closely with team members and Aggreko stakeholders to exceed targets.

What You’ll Do

  • Relationship building: Cultivate and nurture relationships with key decision makers, stakeholders, including potential clients, partners, and industry influencers including EPC contractors and Engineering houses.
  • Business Growth: Lead the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities, including strategic partnerships and joint ventures
  • Collaborate with the wider sales team to help develop and execute sales strategies that drive revenue growth and market penetration
  • Cadence: Manage your sales pipelines, track key metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, customer needs, and potential growth areas within the African Mining sector.
  • Analyze competitive landscapes and emerging market shifts to identify strategic opportunities for Aggreko in the sector
  • Participate in market sizing, forecasting and budget preparation and work closely with Marketing Team in the context of sector-specific campaigns
  • Develop and refine the business development strategy for the assigned area, in line with short-term and long-term growth goals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional matrix teams to align business development strategies with Bid Managers, Engineering, Pricing, Legal and other specialists, and following agreed approval protocols, build and present “Value Propositions”
  • Oversee the development of comprehensive business proposals and presentations for potential clients and partners.
  • Build a robust sales pipeline and forecast that will yield future profitable revenue/ EBITDA streams.
  • Deliver all required reports, forecasts, and CRM updates in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to function as an individual, a team player, virtual team member coupled with sound leadership experience, with the ability to engage and motivate support teams effectively.
  • Willingness to travel as needed on a regular basis in the assigned region.

  • Evaluate the performance of logistics vendors and suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and service standards.
  • Utilize logistics management tools to track and manage shipments and other logistics data.
  • Capture estimates and process vendor invoice in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain data accuracy and integrity in all logistics systems and databases.
  • Work closely with operations, security, sales, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless logistics operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing clear instructions and updates on logistics activities.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects aimed at improving overall operational efficiency.
  • Preparation of notifications to clients and sub-contractors regarding shipping arrangements.
  • Query resolution & client liaison
  • Monitoring of sub-contractor costs and application thereof
  • Maintaining client database, office support and admin functions.
  • Performing related duties as assigned from time to time.

Relationships (Leadership, Interpersonal Skills & Impact of Role)

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Driver’s license
  • Matric
  • Fluent in verbal and written French and English
  • High Level of computer literacy such as MS Office
  • Proven experience in logistics coordination, operations, or related roles
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Skills in data entry with high levels of accuracy
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Knowledge of secure logistics or related industry
