Meridian Wine Merchants is seeking a dynamic Outbound Telesales Consultant based in Gauteng . This exciting opportunity offers the chance to represent premium wine and liquor brands while working in a hybrid environment as part of a passionate, growing team.
Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out new product introduction and upliftment procedures as per SOP.
- Planning the call cycle effectively according to contact and coverage SOP.
- Calling customers in accordance with the agreed call cycle.
- Assisting new customers in opening accounts as per SOP.
- Recording and acting upon customer complaints, queries, and requests promptly, providing feedback as per Communication SOP and contact grid.
- Building relationships with customers by identifying new growth opportunities in the wine category and adding personal touches (e.g., sending a complimentary bottle of wine on birthdays) as per SOP.
- Identifying and executing promotional opportunities based on customer needs and promotional SOP.
- Gaining product and process knowledge to negotiate strategically with customers.
- Understanding personal sales targets by customer and brand, and delivering results.
- Understanding how personal sales commissions and incentives are calculated.
- Growing and maintaining the customer base to achieve sales targets.
- Growing listings on redistributor wine lists.
- Developing a plan to close the sales gap by compiling and submitting a monthly Sales Report as per SOP.
- Logging all calls and capturing customer interactions on the laptop as per SOP and RSM requirements.
- Collecting customer information as per Salesforce Contacts Report.
- Submitting trade program and cycle brief execution feedback as per SOP and RSM requirements.
- Providing operational reports and feedback as required by RSM.
- Following SOP procedures before, during, and after calls.
- Allocating 20% of the day to cover vacant Rep Areas.
- Processing orders via handheld technology.
- Executing tasks from cycle briefs or operational requirements from RSM.
- Managing stock allocations according to RSM requirements and reports.
- Contributing to succession planning and skills transfer within the Sales/Trade Marketing team through coaching and mentorship.
- Planning and prioritizing to manage competing demands effectively.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or Food and Beverage Management.
- At least one year’s experience in the wine or liquor industry, customer service, hospitality, or FMCG retail sales and merchandising.
- Cape Wine Academy Intro to SA Wine or WSET Level 1 (beneficial).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.

- Assist SSM and ASM with ad hoc projects.
- Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained.
- Plan and prioritize, demonstrate abilities to manage competing demands.
- Demonstrate abilities to anticipate and manage change.
- Demonstrate flexibility in balancing achievement of own objectives with abilities to understand and respond to organizational needs.
- Make yourself aware of the dress code and adhere to it (smart casual) as per SOP.
- Capture weekly all opposition brands onto wine list database.
- Send a weekly report to the RSM’s with an updated wine list completion summary.
- Compiling the split marketing invoice when needed as well as arranging for the discount purchase order within BC (Fine Brands and The Wine Shop).
- Prepare presentation documents and reports as per line manager.
Requirements:
- Grade 12.
- Secretarial / Administration qualification.
- Driver’s License.
- 1 -3 years administration experience.
- PC proficient (MS office suite: word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook).

Previous experience in printing (digital, screen and litho) manufacturing and finishing processes is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Receive production requests and prioritise accordingly to meet deadlines
- Read, process, comprehend, and follow the detailed written and verbal instructions of the customers prior to starting the job to assure the job is done correctly and to clients satisfaction
