Our Client, a leader in the Retail industry with branches in Durban and Cape Town, providing a wide range of products to their various stores, is seeking to appoint a committed, suitably qualified, and experienced individual to fill the position of Retail Buyer for their Cape Town Region. The successful candidate will be based in their Epping Offices in Cape Town. Applicants must reside in the Cape Town area.
Duties & Responsibilities- Researching, sourcing, and developing products, ensuring the best range offering for the market.
- Understanding the target market and analysing trends to make informed buying decisions.
- Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating with them for the best prices, quantities, and delivery timescales.
- Conducting competitive shopping and market analysis.
- Understanding retail pricing ladders and cost implications.
- Monitoring stock quality and escalating discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Running and analysing reports regularly.
- Communicating and coordinating with the Planning Team and Suppliers.
- Assisting the Buying Team in planning promotional activities.
- Visiting stores regularly and building trust relationships with Operators, Operations Managers, and the Ops Team.
- Traveling to meet suppliers, source products, and attend trade fairs when required.
- Grade 12 (Twelve).
- A relevant Diploma or Degree would be an added advantage.
- At least 3 (Three) years of experience in a similar role in a Retail or FMCG environment.
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
- Creative mindset and product flair.
- Good understanding of the target market.
- Ability to make decisions.
- Analytical skills.
- Interpersonal skills, particularly in negotiating.
- Ability to multi-task and work well in a team.
- Good organisational skills.
- Drive and determination.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to cope under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Hands-on, team player, passionate, confident, and disciplined.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
Market-related salary of R18 000 – R25 000 per month.
