ABOUT THE POSITION
Laboratory based position responsible for all tasks and activities according to and compliant with current approved policies, processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for umbilical cord blood and cord tissue banking, according to national and international regulations and standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES- Prepare cord blood and tissue samples for processing
- Process and cryopreserve umbilical cord blood and cord tissue
- Communicate with clients and healthcare professionals accordingly
- Maintain and operate specialised laboratory equipment
- Record and interpret results
- All tasks to be carried out in compliance with the Quality Management System
- Utilise computers and information systems for data management
- Follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks
- Present on topics as part of ongoing training program
- Attend weekly and monthly meetings
- Maintain adequate stock levels
- BSc Degree in any of the following fields: Genetics, Biochemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Applied Biology, Medical Biotechnology.
- At least 6 months working experience in a laboratory.
- Competencies would include: sound communication skills; accuracy and precision. Further, the position calls for someone with a high level of integrity.

Overview
Medical Field Service Technician needed in Pretoria, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and reliability of all Arjo equipment within hospitals and medical facilities. The role involves extensive travel in and around the inland region and outline areas, servicing, fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on all Arjo supplied equipment. Efficient turnaround times and high-quality service are emphasized.
Responsibilities- Service and repair systems to full working capacity.
- Assess, repair, service, and provide reports on a wide range of equipment.
- Perform annual maintenance services on demo equipment.
- Complete quality field actions and provide reports.
- Maintain and follow warranty processors and procedures for all intended repairs.
- Fill in and complete job cards for any service repairs, warranties or labour related work.
- Schedule weekly plans and activities and complete paperwork submissions and daily activity reports.
- Assist with service-related queries at hospitals or customer sites.
- Communicate weekly visits and schedules to hospitals.
- Maintain and build good customer relationships and build relationships with service consultants for support on service activities.
- Plan country trips to outline areas and regions to complete equipment inspections, services and repairs.
- Fill out quotations for replacement parts and keep a track record.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards on all Arjo products.
- Update and capture assessments and manage service records.
- Maintain company vehicle in good condition and keep mileage log book.
- Manage tools and testing equipment.
- Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- 5 or more years of technical experience with an electrical and/or mechanical engineering background.
- Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years field service experience.
- Advanced computer literacy in MS Excel and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license (Code 08/EB) and PDP an advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in driving a company vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and translate/read technical schematics and diagrams.
- Customer service oriented and available to work after hours on an ad hoc basis.
- Available to travel nationally when needed or required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
NQF level 6 Natio nal Diploma in Electrical Engineering Clinical
3 Years experience in management and maintenance of medical equipment in a hospital environment.
Driver''s license
Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electronic medical equipment
Minimum Job Requirements:
Attend to daily job cards obtained from internal stakeholders
Conduct equipment evaluations and assessments to ensure that medical equipment is in good working condition
Perform routine service of medical equipment as per manufacturer specifications
On-call services to the hospital after working hours
Conduct and update the Asset Register
Development of an annual service plan for clinical equipment in alignment to manufacture''s specifications
Provide guidance and motivation during the purchase of new clinical equipment
Keep accurate records of service and maintenance job cards on equipment
Identify the need for and organise training for relevant clinic staff
Liaise with external service providers to service equipment and monitor their work outputs
Implement, monitor and control technical and maintenance processes according to quality standards, policy, and compliance and governance requirements
