Job Summary
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will represent Sun Pharmaceutical (SUN).

The MSL will primarily identify and engage with a targeted group of national and regional thought leaders/healthcare professionals (HCPs) as well as payers and managed care accounts, providing the consistent delivery of educational and compliant scientific information in support of Dermatology products. The MSLs will engage with HCPs, NPs, & PAs who are in clinical practice caring for their patients. They will be trained to respond to complex inquiries in a scientific, fair-balanced, compliant manner serving as a critical field medical resource to these HCPs and also, internal SUN sales and managed markets constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with healthcare providers and thought leaders to communicate and advance the scientific platform as aligned with SUN's corporate goals and objectives.
  • Communicate complex scientific information and research concepts to HCPs
  • Provide clinical and economic value information to payers and formulary decision makers
  • Identify and train members of SUN's speakers' bureau and ensure they are updated on new data
  • Respond to requests for investigator sponsored research (ISS) proposals and transit them into Sun and present the research to Sun for review. They will become the point of contact with the HCPs if ISS research is accepted and funded by Sun
  • Support SUN sponsored research
  • Provide feedback based on field interactions with healthcare providers and Thought Leaders to SUN stakeholders
  • Respond to scientific inquires consistent with the MSL compliance standards,
  • Foster scientific relationships between SUN and Fellows in training
  • Lead and/or participate on committees or project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics as delegated by MSL leadership
  • Seek out opportunities to support the MSL value proposition, achieve results and set an example for others to follow by consistently demonstrating SUN values and leadership attributes

Qualifications

  • Doctorate / Terminal degree required (eg, PharmD, MD, DO, DNP or PhD)
  • Dermatology background strongly preferred
  • 1-3 years of clinical, research and/or field medical experience preferred
  • Thorough grasp of the pharmaceutical industry, FDA requirements and PhRMA code
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, team, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation and education skills; ability to communicate clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively
  • Demonstrated project management ability
  • Travel up to 60-70%
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Valid driver's license

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $152,500 to $186,500. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; 401(k) savings plan; flexible spending accounts; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.

The Importance of the Role
The Senior MSL will play a pivotal role in the education of healthcare professionals (HCPs) about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Sarepta's investigational therapeutics and product pipeline.

Reporting to the West Region Team Leader, the Senior MSL position will play a pivotal role in the education of healthcare professionals (HCPs) about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Sarepta's investigational therapeutics and product pipeline. The incumbent is expected to have expertise in the field of Neurology / Pediatrics and to be a scientific expert regarding Sarepta's portfolio of products. MSL will serve as a resource for scientific information for key customers, including but not limited to national and regional opinion leaders, investigators, advisors, and physician networks. The successful candidate will be highly driven individual who combines scientific knowledge with a focus on customer service and compassion for the patients we serve. The person in this position will also need to be willing to actively contribute to the establishment of MSL process and policy, KOL strategy development, and tactical planning.

This position requires the incumbent to be located within the territory: Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

  • Identify, establish, and maintain collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and institutions within academic, clinical, and health care organizations in a defined territory
  • Implement KOL field strategy, KOL identification, speaker development, and support
  • Leadership role in medical education for healthcare professionals through proactive communication of scientific data as well as scientific exchange of information during routine interactions
  • High quality presentations of scientific data to health care professionals in various settings, including advisory boards, investigator meetings, and other appropriate venues to enhance product / disease state knowledge
  • Provide on-site support to clinical operations for investigators in ongoing clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, and registries consistent with company objectives and regulations
  • Visit potential sites to assess their capabilities with regard to conduct these various forms of clinical research
  • Provide professional medical affairs representation and support at global, national and regional scientific meetings, including but not limited to staffing medical affairs booths, gathering competitive intelligence, and partnering with medical information to develop post-conference scientific materials
  • Develop and maintain clinical expertise in Duchenne muscular dystrophy through review of scientific journals, recent data disclosures and participation in scientific congresses
  • Demonstrate an understanding of key medical and commercial strategies and provide medical support for commercial activities.

More About You

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or NP/PA preferred
  • 5+ years of MSL experience a plus
  • Familiarity with and track record of complying with industry and regulatory compliance guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaborative team environment
  • Existing Neurology / Pediatric experience and relationships is a plus, experience in immunology and/or gene therapy a plus.
  • Willingness to travel >50% of time

This initiative is a collaborative venture between aerospace corporate partners and a multi-disciplinary team of researchers at WPI with the goal of developing novel coating technologies to enhance the durability and reliability of engine blade components. The Research Scientist position will involve designing methodology/setups and conducting experiments that will contribute to the development of novel thermal barrier coatings for advanced turbine airfoils. The candidate should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, which requires regular reports and presentations to research sponsors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities
  • Design experimental methodology/setups for thermal gradient testing of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) in engine turbine blades under high temperatures and aggressive environments
  • Conduct spallation life testing of TBCs under a thermal gradient to assess the effect of factors such as temperature, cycle, and loading conditions on the life of TBCs
  • Serve as a technical and programmatic liaison to engineers and scientists at our corporate partners on the development of testing methods and conducting testing of TBCs
  • Coordinate with the research team at WPI on experimental investigations and modeling to quantify mechanical and interfacial behavior of TBCs
  • Coordinate with the research team at WPI for experimental investigations and modeling of thermo-mechanical fatigue of superalloys used in engine turbine blades
  • Train personnel (graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, corporate researchers on testing methods, analysis, and characterization
  • Collaborate with WPI faculty from various departments to deliver technical results and progress in the form of technical reports, publications, and presentations
Required Skills
  • Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or related fields
  • Practical knowledge of design of experimental setups and standard lab practices
  • Experience in experimental mechanics (in particular, mechanical testing, thermal and environmental testing, and basic material characterization (SEM, TEM, EBSD))
  • Ability to work independently and in large multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desired Skills
  • Experience designing, building, and conducting experiments that involve combustion and high temperature
  • Experience with data acquisition, instrumentation, and/or signal conditioning

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • MSc Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Microbiology
  • Preferred: PhD degree

Work Exprerience

  • 4 years' experience in the relevant scientific field.
  • Be registered with the relevant professional legislated regulatory body. i.e. HPCSA, SACNASP
Duties and Responsibilities

Finance

  • Give input to the formulation of the operational budget and monitor and track applicable spending.
  • Provide leadership with expenditure undertaken by the diagnostic section
  • Manage and monitor financial obligations that projects have to TIA (e.g. service fees, generation of service quotes, invoices etc)
  • Solicit additional funding through submission funding proposals

Stakeholder Relations Plans

  • Assume custodianship for linking the Platform and diagnostic section with relevant accreditation authority.
  • Manage effective internal and/or external Stakeholder relationships:
  • Deliver required service to the stakeholder on brief, time and with quality
  • Respond timeous to queries of the stakeholder
  • Maintain professional engagements and continuously exceed expectations

Internal Processes

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team in diagnostic section, to deliver on approved assignment and assays.
  • Provide project management and leadership on assigned projects including project costing
  • Provide critical input into the operational plan of the Platform with regards to the area of expertise, i.e. diagnostic sections.
  • Lead process of certifying the Diagnostic section in according to the relevant requirement i.e. SANAS. DoH etc
  • Develop research protocols and SOP for the laboratory with assistance from other Platform scientists
  • Ensure timeous and accurate reporting as per requirements to clients, funders, and other stakeholders. Prepare technical reports, summaries and protocols of the reports
  • Compile internal and external proposals with input from the Platform technical team & complete external project review forms
  • Ensure adherence to all legal compliance and business processes
  • Conduct a technical feasibility study and project definition meeting
  • Define a consolidated project plan with deliverables as identified in the project definition meeting
  • Source approved equipment and consumables and manage stock levels
  • Manage the lab equipment and oversee the general housekeeping of the laboratory.
  • Manage SLA's and service received from providers.
  • Develop new products and processes at the Platform: Design experiments, analyses results and compile SOP's and test methods in line with client needs and statutory requirements.
  • Trouble shoot experimental problems and find solutions
  • Draft and publish scientific and technical papers

Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Legislation, e.g. PFMA and National Treasury Guidelines;
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant accounting Standards, Policies and Frameworks; and
  • Ensure Compliance with TIA Standard Operating Procedures
  • Be registered with the relevant professional legislated regulatory body. i.e. HPCSA, SACNASP

We have an opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist (Oceanographer) to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead and deliver complex research projects, field data collection, and advanced modelling to improve understanding of oceanographic processes and their influence on South Australia’s marine ecosystems and fisheries.

The role is responsible for providing specialist advice and contribution to the development and application of regional hydrodynamic and biogeochemical models, and the analysis of ocean observing data, to inform evidence-based decision-making by government and industry.
