Key Responsibilities

The business development manager will be responsible for:Generating a pipeline of potential customers and managing the conversion of leads and prospects into customers.Realizing annual and quarterly goals with respect to pipeline generation, conversion rates, customer acquisition, contract yields and customer retention.Coordinating the customer vetting process (in collaboration with the credit team), leads the completion of transactions.Account management, customer satisfaction and managing relationships with existing customers.Managing or co-managing collaborative relationships with the local (partner) organizations of the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), who are their third-party service providers for installation, maintenance, support, customer training and an important part of lead generation.Contributing, in close collaboration with colleagues, to building an organization brimming with   operational excellence, the implementation of technology platforms, the evolution of and compliance with standard operating procedures.Local implementation, execution and monitoring of all policies and procedures related to business development and account management.Continuous updating of the CRM platform and for regular and accurate reporting of business development activities and contributes to consolidated and group level reporting.Operating in close collaboration with other members of the broader business development team of their company.Participating in the development of new service offerings and contributing to the evaluation and expansion of their Healthcare program to other equipment categories.Proposing a departmental annual budget and operating plan in the context of their plan and budget.Upholding their values.Being fully compliant with all applicable regulations, codes of conduct and standards.Requirements

Qualifications, Experience, Characteristics and Skills

Minimum qualification(s):University (Bachelor’s plus Masters) degree, preferably in Medical Science and/or Business Administration.Fluent in English, preferably with good working knowledge of local language(s).Must be eligible to reside and work in South Africa.

Minimum Experience:

Relevant commercial and professional experience in the healthcare (services) industry, medical equipment industry or a similar field, with a proven personal track record of customer acquisition and account management, and preferably with some experience in financial modelling.At least 10 years of working experience.Has at least 5 years of hands-on, on the ground, experience in the local market.A keen knowledge of the local market and good awareness of relevant trends in the healthcare industry.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Additional capacity is needed within Center for Human Metabolomics (CHM) to assist with the increasing research, contract research and service load. This position will be tasked to perform analyses and maintain specialised equipment in CHM laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

Operational activities

  • Perform routine analysis, involvement in sample handling, quality assurance and reporting of results.

Result interpretation

  • Interpret and report results and take appropriate action.

Method development, validation, quality assurance and accreditation

  • Participate in the quality assurance process as outlined in ISO 15189.

General laboratory maintenance

  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is at all times maintained.
  • Effective and efficient inventory management.

Continuous professional development and registration

  • Working toward the accreditation as a medical scientist or appropriate naming at the appropriate qualification body.

Liaise with external clients

  • Answering enquiries by Pathologist/Dr’s as instructed by manager.

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs and analyses laboratory samples in order to provide results for medical practitioners to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Performs diagnostic testing procedures, reviews and verifies results and interacts with pathologists on technical matters to provide all relevant data that may pertain to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of diseases.
  2. Operates, maintains and calibrates the equipment used in the laboratory to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results. This includes recording instrument maintenance and quality control results as well as recognising and resolving problems by troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment and taking corrective action.
  3. Implements sound housekeeping procedures and works effectively with others as a member of a team to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with safety protocols. This includes the ongoing maintenance of quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste, and participation (as per delegated responsibilities) in the preparation process for internal and external audits.
  4. Reports incidents, including instrument failures, problem solutions and reads documents and actions tasks on the laboratory information management system in compliance with relevant organisational policy.
  5. Attends training and seminars and participates in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements. This includes ensuring the availability of up-to-date records that can be presented immediately on request thereof.
  6. Performs on-site training of laboratory staff, interns, students, medical colleagues, and associated health workers in laboratory techniques, processes and systems, if assigned by laboratory manager and deemed competent.
  7. Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organisational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards.
  8. Represents the organisation by applying the principles of customer care in the medical pathology field and interacts professionally and ethically with patients, clients, doctors, and other hospital staff.
