Job Summary
The role will be responsible for initiating and executing field service activities at customer sites in a safe and efficient manner. This role works with more advanced and multi/complex systems, proactively troubleshoots systems, works with mechanical, electrical, diesel equipment conditions, conducts preventative maintenance and parts inventory, and anticipates and corrects safety issues (both Company and Customer owned equipment). Has direct interfacing with customer and may be responsible for work in multiple systems/locations/customers.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Carry out professional service and emergency repair work on pumping and associated equipment at the
- customers’ premises and at the workshops.
- Maintain all relevant documentation and reports for work undertaken, consistent with company policies
- and quality assurance procedures.
- Maintaining working environment and vehicle so that it conforms to all necessary ESH requirements.
- On-site commissioning and control panel settings to application requirements.
- Inspect and test products prior to dispatch to customers.
- Maintain service records using written records for future reference and to comply with all Quality Assurance Procedures.
- Provide timely and accurate advice and feedback to support staff and customers on service and product
- related issues both orally and in writing where required.
- Participate in departmental meetings and provide input on rental activities.
- Actively participate in audits for QA and ESH systems and practices.
- Perform standby duties.
- Support the Rental manager by leading the technicians through scheduling and implementation of a preventative maintenance plan.
- National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic with exposure to auto-electrical and engine controls.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with industrial engines with exposure to connected mechanical equipment, of which 3 years must be in a customer facing field service environment.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Exposure to CAT, Perkins, and Volvo industrial engines.
- Experience on pumps will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in the MS office suite of programs.
- Valid passport and driver’s licence code 08 or higher.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify, locate and repair faults in auto-electrical control equipment.

The TMM Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of diesel-powered TMM equipment used in mining and construction operations. The role ensures optimal equipment performance, safety compliance, and minimal downtime to support operational efficiency.
- Qualifications: Relevant Diesel Mechanic trade certification, Sec 13 or Sec 26(D) with a Statement of Results/copy of your apprentice contract .
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of practical Diesel Mechanic experience, with Trackless Machines being essential.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Certificates:
- Grade 12 certificate.
- N2 qualification with relevant subjects.
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit and able to pass a Mining Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS).
- General:
·Proven experience in fault finding and repairing applicable systems on underground mining TMM such as FERMEL, Land Cruisers, Magni Telehandlers, Manitou Telehandlers, CAT Skid-steer and Getman agicars.
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will perform the following duties, but not limited to:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on all TMM diesel equipment, including loaders, dump trucks, LDVs, and utility vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in diesel engines and associated systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and safety checks as per OEM and company standards.
- Record and report all maintenance activities, defects, and parts usage accurately in maintenance management systems.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, assess the situation, and implement effective solutions to minimize operational delays.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure all work is carried out with proper use of PPE and in compliance with site safety protocols and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to coordinate maintenance schedules and resolve technical issues.
- Advise on the procurement of spare parts, tools, and consumables required for TMM maintenance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs to enhance technical skills and safety awareness.
- Complete risk assessments and job safety analyses prior to commencing work.
- Ensure compliance with South African labour law, equipment accountability, and workplace policies.

Our client is seeking a Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join their team.

Job type: On site
Duties And Responsibilities
- To perform maintenance on trucks and earth moving equipment
- Routine inspections and repairs.
- Qualification for Diesel Mechanic – Red Seal Trade Tested
- 5 years post trade experience
- Valid driver’s licence
- Must have experience on earth moving equipment
- Code 14 with PDP will be an advantage
