As the Materials Planning Manager , you will oversee material planning and inbound logistics to ensure timely and accurate delivery of parts that support continuous truck production. Manages supplier schedules, inventory levels, and inbound flows within planning parameters, while aligning closely with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams. This role plays a key part in translating demand forecasts into executable supply plans and maintaining supply chain responsiveness in a high-mix, low-volume OEM manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage robust material planning processes that align supplier deliveries with production requirements and business rules.
- Convert production schedules and demand forecasts into actionable material requirements and supplier schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and logistics flow to ensure on-time, in-house, in full (OTIF) part delivery to the plant.
- Maintain planning master data (e.g., lead times, safety stock, reorder points) to ensure ERP system accuracy and planning effectiveness.
- Coordinate closely with purchasing, production, engineering, and warehouse teams to synchronize part availability with build plans.
- Drive inventory optimization efforts while safeguarding production continuity, balancing working capital and service levels.
- Collaborate with suppliers to confirm schedules, mitigate delays, and respond to changes in demand or production.
- Support engineering changes and new model introductions through early planning, pre-build material readiness, and phase-in/phase-out strategies.
- Anticipate supply risks and drive resolution strategies including alternate sourcing, expedite planning, or buffer adjustments.
- Manage planning KPIs such as supplier on-time delivery, part availability, inventory coverage, and planning accuracy.
- Lead root cause analysis of material shortages and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for planning systems, supply chain visibility, and responsiveness.
- Prepare planning reports and participate in cross-functional reviews to communicate material readiness status.
- Ensure all planning and materials policies comply with company standards and operational governance frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
- Masters degree or APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) is advantageous.
- Minimum 57 years experience in materials planning or supply chain roles, preferably within an OEM, automotive, or heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent), with a strong understanding of planning parameters and master data.
- Experience managing supplier delivery schedules, inbound logistics coordination, and BOM-driven material planning.
- Knowledge of inventory control strategies and manufacturing supply chain best practices.
- Strong exposure to high-mix, low-volume or engineer-to-order production environments.
- Advanced Excel skills: experience with forecasting tools or planning dashboards is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Must demonstrate the ability to manage complex supplier relationships and resolve delivery constraints in a fast-paced manufacturing context.
- Fluent in English, with exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, capable of engaging confidently across technical and executive audiences.

The key purpose of this role is to maximize business value, enhance overall value chain predictability and performance through improved sales forecast accuracy and effective portfolio management. The Demand Planning Specialist will do this by analysing and enriching statistical forecasts and collaborating with commercial teams, ensuring alignment and consensus on both weekly and monthly forecasts for release to the supply chain, while optimizing the product portfolio.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support and Manage Zone LCP as per Scope Requirement (E.g. Demand Planning, Portfolio, Management, S&OP)
- Prepare, Manage and Facilitate key Demand and Portfolio routines (E.g. S&OE, S&OP, Portfolio Review, Demand Review, Supply Review)
- Oversee the generation and validation of statistical forecasting outputs, ensuring the application of best-fit models and appropriate disaggregation across relevant time horizons.
- Drive Touchless Demand Planning through enriched statistical forecasting and improved statistical forecast accuracy.
- Champion commercial enrichment initiatives (E.g. Marketing Calendars, Events, Promotions, NPDs, Discontinuations)
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with commercial, supply chain, and finance teams to integrate business intelligence and market trends into planning and portfolio decisions, including the integration of scenario planning and risk management into the demand planning cycle
- Direct the preparation, analysis, and implementation of recommendations for Demand Planning data (e.g., master data, aggregation rules, segmentation, demand drivers, normalization).
- Ensure appropriate master data management of Demand and Portfolio data within Demand/Portfolio planning tools (e.g. Active SKU validation, Delist actions, NPD/NPI Introduction).
- Partake in Portfolio strategies to optimize product mix, drive profitability, and align with market opportunities.
- Facilitate product introductions (NPD/NPI), rationalizations and lifecycle management by engaging in monthly Portfolio Reviews
- Collaborate with Zone Portfolio, Marketing, Revenue, Sales, and Innovations to identify and prioritize new product opportunities, manage discontinuations, and ensure portfolio alignment with business objectives.
- Lead the implementation, enhancement, and utilization of zone reporting tools and dashboards.
- Prepare and deliver regular reports and executive presentations on key performance metrics (e.g., Forecast Accuracy, Bias, SCOH, Touchless Demand Planning, etc.) and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance forecast accuracy, portfolio performance, and value chain efficiency.

- Drive Forecast Accuracy Through Iteration: Continuously update your model with the latest inputs. Refine assumptions based on historical trends, seasonality, and cross-functional feedback.
- Translate Data into Action: Deliver timely and actionable forecast reports to our inventory team and manufacturing partners to ensure supply aligns with demand.
- Sales Analytics & Insights: Analyze sales data to support retailer presentations, evaluate promotional ROI, and inform trade program planning.
- Operational Intelligence: Support profitability reviews, vendor invoice audits, and chargeback validations against promotional calendars.
- Advanced Excel Expertise: You’re fluent in complex formulas, modeling, pivot tables, Power Query, and scenario analysis.
- Strong Communication Skills (English): Comfortable presenting insights both in writing and on occasional video calls (EST hours).
- Analytical Judgment: You know when the business needs precision — and when directional estimates are enough to move fast.
- Nice-to-Have Tools & Tech: Experience with ERP systems, dashboarding tools (Looker, Tableau, etc.), or automation via Python, VBA, or similar.

Job Purpose:

Key Performance Areas:
