• Lead, implement, and manage the maintenance strategy.
• Implement and manage an engineering asset life cycle management system.
• Develop and review operations and maintenance policies and procedures for improved operational efficiency.
• Develop, review, and enhance the engineering asset assessment system.
• Identify and compile operational training material.
• Approve designs for building specifications and new technology implementations, including applicable factory acceptance testing.
• Manage equipment/plant condition reports.
• Manage new contracts with equipment instructions, outlining OEM requirements, and maintenance strategies.
• Manage the database in SAP through master data.
• Perform/lead specific equipment/plant failure/incident investigations, reporting and ensuring compliance with legal requirements concerning statutory and regulatory requirements.

• Power System Studies & Analysis
  • Conduct steady state and transient studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and power quality (harmonics, flicker).
  • Perform grid compliance, grid impact, grid integration, and power evacuation studies.
  • Carry out contingency analysis, insulation coordination (switching studies), and stability studies (LVRT/HVRT for renewable plants).
  • Execute grounding and cable ampacity studies.
• Advanced Modelling & Tools
  • Develop RMS and EMT models; mandatory experience with PSSE, EMTP, PSCAD.
  • Update modelling libraries as needed in ETAP/PowerFactory.
  • Apply coding, scripting, and automation in DSL/Python to support studies.
• Renewable Energy & Equipment Modelling
  • Model and analyse solar PV plants, wind turbines, and BESS systems.
  • Apply manual engineering calculations for reactive power, short circuit, transformer sizing, CT/PT sizing, earthing/lightning protection, and protection schemes (unit, non-unit, distance).
  • Apply knowledge of HVDC systems, FACTS devices (SVC, STATCOM), and advanced protection settings.
  • Review vendor documents and protection schemes (inverters, BESS, wind turbines).
  • Support site activities including relay setting and harmonic measurement.
• Documentation, Reporting & Communication
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and performance curves.
  • Document assumptions, methodologies, and outputs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support business development through technical blogs and white papers.
• Standards, Compliance & Knowledge Sharing
  • Apply IEC, IEEE, NEC, and South African Standards in performing studies.
  • Ensure compliance with South African and Eskom grid codes
  • Support knowledge transfer and adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) commitments.
  • Work closely with India-based project managers during the initial months for delivery alignment
    
    

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BE/B.Tech).
• 6–12 years of experience in power system studies and grid compliance for renewable projects.
• Strong background in renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS); exposure to green hydrogen is an advantage.
• Candidates from Oil & Gas or process industries with relevant systems experience will also be well suited for this role
• Candidates should have demonstrable experience contributing to portfolios totalling at least 1 GW of renewable projects

• Expertise in ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSSE, EMTP, PSCAD.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (DSL, Python) desirable.
• Strong manual calculation skills for core electrical engineering tasks.

• Excellent communication, presentation and coordination skills for multi-stakeholder engagement.
• Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to lead and take accountability for project deliverables.
• Familiarity with South African/Eskom utility standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Direct experience engaging with Eskom or the Department of Electricity is highly preferred
• Cross-country or multicultural project experience in Africa.
• Willingness to travel and stay as required for projects in South Africa.
• Commitment to comply with organisational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving project scopes and requirements.

To manage and maintain Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems, ensuring accurate data collection, system integrity, and seamless integration with utility billing platforms.

Job Description

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with AMR (Automated Meter Reading) systems on the backend.
• Solid understanding of single-phase prepaid and postpaid meters, three-phase meters, and CT/VT-operated metering systems, including basic operational theory.
• Knowledge of Water meters and Sigfox Protocols
• Experience with Hexing, Conlog, and Kamstrup meters is highly advantageous.
• Proficient in communication protocols such as DLMS/COSEM, Modbus, and others.
• Knowledge of CIU comms protocols such as PLC, RF, etc.
• Familiarity with communication modules and modems, including RS232 and RS485 interfaces.
• Ability to configure AMR backend parameters, including but not limited to: - Communication settings (IP addresses, ports, etc.) - Voltage Transformer (VT) and Current Transformer (CT) ratios - Multiplication factors
• Skilled in troubleshooting communication failures, resolving billing discrepancies, and interpreting load profiles and phasor diagrams.
• Demonstrated experience in providing remote technical support to field technicians.
• Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, C#) is an added advantage.Knowledge of scripting, automation and API integration
• Competency in basic data analysis using tools such as Excel and SQL is beneficial.
• Knowledge of vending platforms & financial billing systems will be advantageous
