Marketing and Communications Manager

Reference: PTA001126-EV-1
An established manufacturer of specialised agrochemicals is seeking a dynamic Marketing and Communications Manager to build a strong company image through content management and structured branding processes in Southern Africa and by managing all internal and external communication channels (including social media), ensuring projects and branding are consistent with Regional and Corporate guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a tertiary qualification in Marketing and/or Communication
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a marketing communication position is essential
  • Industry experience is preferred
  • Good communication and presentation skills, specifically in English and Afrikaans, with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, will be required

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Drafting an annual marketing promotion plan in conjunction with Head of Department after inputs from relevant team members in portfolio management and Regional Marketing Officers.
  • Keeping a good record of the approved annual marketing expense budget and reporting status monthly to the head of department.
  • Executing product and services communication (launches, campaigns, etc.).
  • Planning and implementing advertising in Agricultural publications, press releases, adverts, web placements, social media channels like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
  • Responsible for conceptual design and execution of innovative display models and/or promotional items to be used for trade shows and other events.
  • Providing in-house artwork (for print) and multimedia generation.
  • Working closely with Designers to make marketing collateral (brochures, event invitations, multimedia, such as videos) where relevant.
  • Offering support to Business, Marketing Managers, Stewardship and AFAS programmes and Agents with their promotion requirements, for example sponsorships and Farmers’ Days clothing, handouts, banners, gifts, etc.
  • Managing the Southern Africa Web communication, Websites and digital platform sites for the company and its relevant affiliates.
  • Identifying and discussing the relevance of all events that can serve as promotional platforms.
  • Managing, organizing and attending all events including Farmers Days, annual Agents’ Conference, Expos and Trade Shows.
  • Requesting quotes from suppliers, getting approval from management for procurement, receiving orders, and processing invoices and payments.
  • Managing hospitality events as a customer service & promotion tool.
  • Proposing and contributing to product communication plan and communication initiatives (including web communication).
  • Maintaining the company's corporate image and identity in alignment with the communication department.
  • Managing the Trade name database in coordination with the global legal and registration department.
  • Ensuring new product names are registered as per Portfolio Manager requests.
  • Maintaining the Trade name summary.
  • Maintaining the alignment with AME Branding policy for all marketing as per global guidelines.
  • Compiling and keeping the marketing budget up to date.
  • Ordering all company business cards.
  • Maintaining data libraries of all electronic collateral and content such as open designs files, stock image library and rendered files (print and multimedia).
  • Ensuring all contractual obligations are met in terms of hospitality, trade show agreements and others, in line with the company’s legal requirements.

• Demonstrated success in driving strategic marketing initiatives from vision to execution
• Extensive experience managing Owned, Earned, and Paid channels across global and regional markets

The Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company (RF) Proprietary Limited (FEM) was established as a mutual insurer in 1936 and on the introduction of the Workmen’s Compensation Act 1941, was granted a license to continue to transact workmen’s compensation insurance for the building and construction industry. This insurance compensates employees or their dependents following an injury arising from an occupational accident and illness occasioned by industrial diseases. FEM’s operations are essentially confined to the insurance of employers in the building and construction industry against their liabilities under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 1993 (COIDA). FEM operates under license from the Minister of Employment and Labour and is also registered as a non-life insurer.

Applications are invited for a Marketing and Communications Manager position. Reporting to the Chief Business Development Officer, the overall objective of this position is to develop, implement, and manage FEM’s Marketing and Communication strategy and initiatives to ensure alignment to support the growth of FEM’s business strategy and the overall brand.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a small team and will collaborate with the management team to drive effective project management of marketing and communication related projects for FEM as well as facilitate the required market and commercial growth of the business through launching and creating new business partnerships. Furthermore, they will be responsible for managing FEM’s internal events and communication campaigns to drive engagement amongst FEM employees.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and experience in all aspects of marketing including public relations, digital and social media campaigns and events management. They should have a strong business development mindset and good networking and communication skills.

The minimum requirements of the position are a degree in Marketing and Communications or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years prior work experience in a Marketing and Communications or related role, 3 years’ experience in events management and at least 2 years’ experience in a management position. Prior experience within financial services will be an added advantage. Own transport with a valid driver’s license and good computer skills are further essential requirements for the position.

We have offices regionally in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. This position will be located in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

What Will I Be Doing?

In your new role as Marketing and Communications Executive you will support the implementation of the marketing and communication strategies across the two Hilton properties in Queenstown. Specific position focus will be applied to increasing the profile, share of voice and reputation value for the two hotels among targeted customer and travel media. More specifically, you will:

· Responsible for developing annual marketing plan in collaboration with the Commercial Director

· Liaise and to collaborate with regional and worldwide Hilton marketing teams

· Ensure all hotel touch points and merchandising opportunities are maintained in accordance with the Hilton Brand Guidelines.

· Ensure visual assets are up-to-date and comply with Hilton Brand Guidelines.

· Be responsible for updating marketing content on Hilton branded and third-party travel websites.

· Create a localised social media content plan and coordinate the delivery of messages.

· Assist with the creation of local Purchase Orders, payment of invoices and monthly reforecasting.

· Coordinate artwork briefs, delivery and distribution of all Queenstown-based collateral.

· Assist with journalist enquiries, distribution of media releases to travel and trade contacts, and record maintenance of all advertisement and editorial coverage.

· Organise and deliver promotional events.

· Support the Commercial Director and General Manager in meeting key business objectives, by providing assistance as well as overseeing the day to day administration.

What Are We Looking For?

The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering an exceptional guest experience. To be successful in this role you will have:

· Ability to understand key business indicators and competitive trends

· Previous Hotel or leisure sector experience

· Previous Marketing experience in a similar environment

· Skills within Adobe Creative Suite applications including Photoshop, Canva and InDesign are essential.

· Relevant degree, in marketing, business development or other relevant business field, from an academic institution would be beneficail

· Proven organisational and planning skills

· Understanding of social media polices and experience in communicating business messages across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.

· Committed to delivering a high level of customer service, both internally and externally
