Our Business Unit Lighting and Imaging offers challenging lighting and image transmission solutions for applications in the markets of automotive, aviation, medical devices, as well as industrial and safety engineering. With production units in Europe, North-America and the worldwide SCHOTT sales organization Lighting and Imaging is a leading supplier for fiber optic components.
Your Contribution- Provides first level supervision for assigned department(s) including attaining production schedules and maintaining process control to produce the quality and the quantity of products required.
- Maintains an adequate supply of materials and tooling.
- Maintains process controls and attains weekly production schedules.
- Works with Manufacturing Manager, Production Control, Sales, Shift Supervisors, Customer Service and Engineering in establishing new processes and/or improvements.
- Conducts daily shop floor management meetings (Level 2 or 3) and monthly departmental cell meetings.
- Utilizes PSO concepts along with action plans that describe who, what, where and when; obtains the resources or support for the program or project.
- Monitors material quality of finished product; correlates material defects and recommends corrective action.
- Ensures that assigned employees receive all job-related training and maintains a training matrix for use in making job assignments.
- Assists in budgeting processes and is responsible for budget control within assigned departments.
- Evaluates individual performance against department goals and objectives and provides an annual performance review for each employee.
- Ensures that the responsibility for product quality and productivity is driven down to the lowest level of the organization utilizing PSO concepts.
- Ensures that direct labor reporting, record keeping and indirect labor are accurately reported on a daily basis.
- Utilizes process capability knowledge to reduce cycle times and to estimate cycle times and yields for quotation purposes.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five (5) years related supervisory or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of fiber optic material and or finishing technologies preferred.
- Computer proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office software.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Effective communication skills: listening, writing, speaking and oral presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop subordinates and to create effective working relationships with all functions and levels within the company.
- Strong analytical problem solving abilities.
- Self-motivated and results oriented.
- Good judgement and good decision-making ability.
- Ability to work on a team, including being an effective team leader.
- Effective management skills-plan, direct, organize and control.
- Ability to manage resources; equipment, personnel and time on multiple shifts.
- Ability to provide leadership for change and continuous improvement on multiple shifts.
- Ability to support department and corporate policies and goals, e.g. Schott Strategy Framework, Operational Excellence, Lean Principles.
- Due to the nature of work performed at this facility, US Person status may be required.

A leading company in the red meat industry is looking for a Supervisor of a Manufacturing Plant with manufacturing plant/meat production experience to supervise the end-to-end production process, including filling, drying, packing, wrapping, and labelling of all boerewors/sausage, burgers, meatballs, and pets mince.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesProduction
- Responsible for boerewors/sausage production process.
- Develop, review, and implement efficient and effective procedures and processes to optimize production.
- Responsible for the delivery of product according to a set standard, at a reasonable cost and productivity.
- Stock control management (stock rotation).
- Ensure product meets all customer requirements, especially but not limited to product appearance, packing, and labelling.
- Oversee that hygiene standards are applied throughout all processes and procedures.
- Responsible for the application of the correct selection criteria and quality standards (e.g., neatness; sequence etc.) of labelling.
- Ensure that all procedures are implemented in accordance with legal requirements e.g., hygiene.
People Supervision
- Supervise and control subordinates' activities to ensure daily production targets are met.
- Supervise time and attendance of all subordinates.
- Ensure disciplinary procedures are applied adequately.
- Assure stable employee relations by managing conflict and creating a positive and performing working environment.
- Grade 12
- 3-5 years manufacturing plant/meat production experience.
