Prepare and deliver customer presentations, demonstrations, and responses to tenders. Act as Opportunity Technical Leader, overseeing all related activities. The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching-stream appointment in the Operations Management & Statistics Area. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Applicants must have earned a PhD in Operations Management or a PhD in a field related to Operations Management, such as Information Systems. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths . Applicants must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, including a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice, evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; a demonstrated mastery of their subject area; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in pedagogical inquiry and teaching innovation; and an interest in teaching-related scholarly activities in operations management. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting management program, including lecture preparation and delivery, and curriculum development. Applicants must have the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate management courses in operations management, statistics, spreadsheet modelling, and business analytics.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference, and for short-listed candidates, a strong performance during the on-campus presentation. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of the seasonal factory listing and profiling.
  • Approve and guide the development of three-year capacity projections.
  • Validate and communicate seasonal calendars to merchandising and planning teams.
  • Review and present high-level seasonal strategy documents to leadership.
  • Ensure alignment between seasonal demand and available capacity using FastReact and Centric PLM systems.
  • Monitor and escalate material variances between seasonal, commitment, and roll-up plans.
  • Ensure timely updates to seasonal manufacturing period dates.
  • Oversee the integrity of FastReact master data and planning logic.
  • Lead the monthly review of GAP/Overruns reports and corrective action planning.
  • Negotiate and agree on strategic CMT allocations with Planning and Key Account Managers.
  • Ensure CMT capabilities align with forecasted demand and product complexity.
  • Support CMT development initiatives to meet future business needs.
  • Oversee the calculation and seasonal update of standard minute rates.
  • Ensure manufacturing cost models are accurate and reflect operational realities.
  • Manage the Planning Cost Centre and contribute to profitability targets.
  • Champion continuous improvement in planning systems (FastReact, Centric, Sync).
  • Lead initiatives to streamline taskline sequencing and milestone tracking.
  • Ensure planning processes are documented, followed, and enhanced where needed.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to planners and controllers.
  • Facilitate pre-season engagements between factories and design teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with factory owners and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare Annual reports and analytics on manufacturing capacity
Qualifications & Experience
  • Matric and relevant qualification (degree/diploma)
  • Proven working experience in a Manufacturing and Planning environment (3-5years)
