- Create an effective working environment and understand the political and socio-economic environment.
- Manage discipline in all sections. Has authority for the hiring and dismissing of employees and for determining remuneration levels for the department under his control within the constraints of the divisional limitations.
- Maintain appropriate staffing level and workload distribution to meet production and business needs.
- SHEQ Management (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001):
- Responsible for adhering to the requirements of abovementioned systems as directed by the SHEQ Management System (which includes relevant legislation, Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions, specifications, etc.)
- Minimize business losses for accidents, occupational illness, and environmental incidents on the plants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full accountability for day-to-day garment production operations across all departments.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, performance, quality, and throughput for 500–1000 factory employees.
- Lead production planning, line efficiency, cost control, and delivery scheduling.
- Manage technical operations including Gerber automated cutting systems, sewing machinery, and finishing equipment.

We are hiring a Factory Manager to join our fast moving and growing lighting manufacturing production facility based in Richmond Park, Cape Town.
The FM oversees the overall manufacturing facility and production lines, interfacing closely with procurement and stock management functions. This role works together with the Chief Product Officer and other senior managers and supervisors to ensure that products are manufactured to the highest possible quality standards, in compliance with relevant safety and industry-related regulations and standards.
The FM will oversee all the current staff in the Richmond Park Facility as well as the anticipated headcount growth in line with the expected expansion. Products produced include LED luminaires, geyser controllers, microgrid controllers, inverters and lithium-iron batteries.

Role responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all activities within the production facility
- Work closely with material planners to ensure that raw materials are correctly procured on a just-in-time basis
- Assessing standard and non-standard manufacturing requirements and the resources it may require
- Oversight of production supervisors and production planning.
- Oversee production schedules, timeously adjusting when necessary
