Job DescriptionThe Quality Assurance (QA) Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing a team of QA Consultants in monitoring and evaluating the performance of consultants within the Operations contact centre. They will also be responsible for coaching their team, developing and implementing comprehensive QA processes and guidelines, conducting regular quality assessments, reporting on quality trends, and providing feedback. The role will report to the Head of Shared Services division in Operations.
The Team Leader will be responsible for formulating plans and strategies for the implementation of QA solutions in the Operations business areas to check and maintain the quality of work against business standards which leads to a positive client experience.
Key Responsibilities- Manage, lead and develop the Operations QA teams.
- Develop and implement comprehensive QA processes and guidelines.
- Conduct regular monitoring and oversight of quality assessments of calls, email interactions, and other customer interactions.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide feedback, coaching to the QA consultants.
- Manage individual and team performance.
- Manage relationships between all Operations channels, Broker Services, and other internal stakeholders dependent on the outputs of reporting.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities across the reporting channels.
- Keep up to date with process changes in Operations.
- Implement QA methodology to all teams.
- Implement world-class QA criteria measures.
- Report on QA activities.
- Ensure that Consultants are well-equipped to succeed.
- Track and report on QA metrics.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the quality of client engagement.

- Matric/Grade 12.
- National Diploma in a related field / NQF Level 5 (Short-Term Insurance Qualification).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Short-Term Insurance.

The Manager Quality Systems will be responsible for developing the Quality policies, processes, standards, and systems for the Company. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing and sustaining the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 and industry quality requirements across the organization through existing and new procedures. Conduct audits and manage the audit program to ensure compliance and that all nonconformities raised during audits are effectively corrected and independently verified. Embed a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Perform internal and external quality audits and compile detailed reports of findings.
- Be involved in the establishment of quality policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the Quality Management System (QMS) is regularly reviewed and updated to meet the requirements of external certification bodies.
- Ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place to meet customer requirements and audits.
- Conduct internal, external, and third-party audits, compile corrective action plans, and follow up on completion.
- Manage and investigate non-conformances & ensure corrective action/recommendations are coordinated and implemented in consultation with stakeholders.
- Compile monthly reports and reports of audits.
- Manage and monitor quality indicators such as quality failure costs, customer complaints, and NCRs.
- Review production QC requirements and ensure that QC documentation meets the requirements of the Quality system.
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement them in consultation with stakeholders.
- Be the Point of Contact (POC) with Certification Bodies and arrange audits.
- Manage the audit non-conformity database and provide detailed analysis of non-conformities.
- Coach and lead the Quality team to ensure RDM meets Quality objectives and delivers best practice results, added value, and continuous improvements.
- Manage and coordinate standardization of quality management systems across all sites.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- BEng / BTech in Quality or equivalent.
- ISO 9001 implementation.
- Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing skills (advantageous).
- At least 5 years' relevant experience in quality management within a medium to large organization, of which 3 years should have been in a managing employees, performance management, and leadership role.
- The ability to interface, liaise, and communicate with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Good planning, integration, and resources management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentation.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines both internally and externally.

Ensure that our products meet regulatory standards, are safe for consumption, maintain FSSC 22000 accreditation and sustain the highest level of quality.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesQuality & Food Safety
- Monitor and evaluate product quality throughout the production process, from raw materials to finished products, to identify and address any quality concerns that may arise, ensuring that the highest quality products are dispatched from Freys Food Brands.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Procurement, and Technology and Innovation, to implement quality improvement initiatives and resolve quality-related defects/concerns.
- Continuously improve the food safety documented traceability system for the company to ensure proper root cause analysis.
- Review, revise, and improve quality and food safety risk assessments in line with emerging risks and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and monitor performance of GMP and PRP checks in the plant.
- Conduct routine GMP and PRP audits.
Audits
- Conduct regular audits of production processes, facilities, and documentation to identify areas of improvement and its implementation to ensure adherence to quality and food safety protocols.
- Inform all internal stakeholders in advance of all audits taking place.

Training and Development

- Bachelor’s degree/B. Tech in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5 - 6 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety Management in the food manufacturing/FMCG sector, meat industry preferable.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, including but not limited to HACCP etc.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000.
- Experience with food safety audits and certifications (e.g. GMP).
- Certification in Food Safety.
- Intermediate to advance skills in Microsoft suite.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify potential quality issues, analyse data and ensure product and services meet quality standards.
