We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Management Consulting Intern to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting various management consulting projects, particularly in bid and proposal management, project administration, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Management Consulting Intern, you will:

  • Bid & Proposal Management:
  • Create, prepare, and submit bids/proposals for tenders.
  • Ensure all submissions meet client requirements and deadlines.
  • Project Administration and Coordination:
  • Assist in the coordination and administration of consulting projects, ensuring smooth workflow and proper documentation.
  • Report Writing & Documentation Management:
  • Write, review, and edit project reports and consulting deliverables.
  • Maintain and organize critical project documentation via OneDrive.
  • Ensure that all certified documents are up-to-date and valid.
  • Research & Analysis:
  • Conduct research to support consulting projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with preparing presentations and client-facing documents.
  • Team Collaboration & Support:
  • Participate in internal and client meetings as required.

  • Client engagement & Support:

The Role

Provide advice and support to sector SBUs and Post Investment Segments in respect of their clients who are showing early signs of operational and/or financial stress. Conduct detailed business diagnosis focusing on business dimensions (Leadership, Strategy, Operations, Finance, Human Capital, Sales Marketing) and document terms of reference that will inform the Value Creation Plan (VCP) for clients who would require management consulting services, training, support, mentorship and development.

Provide advisory support to the clients through knowledge provision, training, mentorship and coaching. Provide post-investment early-stage support to small, medium and large enterprises to collaboratively grow clients through assisting Segments in developing and implementing the VCP and its identified interventions.

Provide management consulting services in the areas of leadership, governance, corporate and business unit strategy, functional management strategies, sales and marketing, human capital, finance and operations (optimization, process re-engineering, operational efficiencies, productivity improvement, etc).

Implement business enabling systems and tools such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), financial and human capital systems, policies and processes to help formalize and professionalize clients’ businesses.

Provide domain knowledge and expertise to support clients to realize profit and growth such as: Markets, Value chain insights, Manufacturing 4.0 and technologies. Stakeholder management and engagement to ensure alignment of roles and responsibilities and building up a repository of core knowledge and insights within the IDC in supporting the delivery of the value creation plan for clients.

This is to ensure that a knowledge bank can be utilized by the clients for future interventions. Safeguard the client's security position through maintaining and/or improving the recoverability of the client's exposure.

Coach and mentor clients to build organizational capabilities such as: functional management skills; financial know-how; agile ways of working; strategic planning; marketing, corporate governance, etc. Conduct business diagnosis and deep-dive to identify areas of distress and improvement in the client’s business.

Draft and present submission reports to various decision-making committees responsible for portfolio monitoring and credit approval. Review drafted legal agreements to ensure they capture the client's credit committee approval.

Closely monitor the implementation of the strategy and plans through attending Steerco/ Manco; interaction with key stakeholders; regular client visits etc. Regularly update the pipeline and status report, and SAP to indicate and track progress in respect of transactions under your portfolio of clients.

Attend and contribute to the weekly Capability Advisory Services and periodic Business Advisory and Turnaround Services meetings. Provide efficient service to both internal and external stakeholders/clients.

Profile

To provide advisory services to clients depicting early warning signs of distress, that support limiting an increase in further distress; and where encountered, craft solutions and monitor implementation of interventions for these clients thereby restricting the number of clients that progress into turnaround and business rescue.

To support the clients through providing management consulting services, specialist knowledge and expertise to help them grow, operate better and become high-performance businesses.

Qualification

Minimum qualification: BCom with post-graduate degree MBA / MBL / CA(SA) would be an added advantage.

Knowledge Skills

At least 8-10 years’ experience in a management consulting environment, consulting to small, medium and large (blue chip) businesses experiencing growth prospects and/or early onset stress. A seasoned well-rounded management consultant with deep diagnostic, solutions-design and implementing skills, preferably from 1st or 2nd tier consulting firms.

Knowledge of business and the diversity of risks that may affect businesses. Good understanding of different types of security. Good working knowledge of Company, Contract, Taxation, IFRS and Insolvency legislation. Resourcing and implementing outcomes-based interventions. Good knowledge of industry standards, technology trends and best practices.

  • Sourcing and validating resolution funding and collateral-related data from multiple source systems.
  • Performing data and process gap analyses aligned to SARB’s Resolution Funding expectations.
  • Assisting in the design and build of the funding estimation and forecasting model.
  • Developing dashboards and reports to support resolution funding MIS and internal governance.
  • Engaging with Treasury, Risk, Finance, and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment and interlock of data sources.
  • Supporting the process analysis required for embedding new funding processes in resolution scenarios.
  • Documenting requirements and maintaining traceability across data, systems, and reporting layers.
  • Build the internal capabilities to estimate, manage, and report the institution’s funding and liquidity position in resolution scenarios, in line with SARB’s requirements under the Financial Sector Laws Amendment Act (FSLAA).

This role will contribute to delivering key components of the resolution funding strategy, including:

  • Resolution cost estimation.
  • Forecasting and MIS solutions for resolution funding.
  • Scenario analysis and modelling for liquidity shortfalls.
  • Governance and compliance framework development.
  • ELA collateral assessment and FMI liquidity gap identification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • SQL (min 1 year).
  • Business and data analysis (min 2 years).
  • Power BI or QlikView/Qlik Sense (min 1 year).
  • Banking experience.
  • PowerBI experience or similar reporting platform.
  • SAS experience.
  • Business and/or Data Analysis experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

The Successful candidate will be responsible for:

Job Purpose
The company is looking for an experienced and dynamic Business Intelligence, Analysis & Systems Manager to lead our team of Business Analysts. This strategic role is key to bridging the gap between what the business needs and the technology solutions available. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of system enhancements—from scoping and design through to deployment—and ensuring the ongoing stability of these systems via dedicated application support. Furthermore, the successful candidate will lead a team in developing and executing strategic projects, govern master data, and proactively find new opportunities to drive business efficiency and growth.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the performance and professional development of the Business Intelligence team.
  • Allocate BI and BA resources effectively across projects and support activities, ensuring optimal workload distribution.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and high performance.
  • Set clear objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Application Support Management

  • Establish and oversee a Tier 2 support desk managed by the BI team for business-critical applications and systems.
  • Ensure timely triage, prioritization and resolution of incoming support tickets, bugs, and data-related queries.
  • Analyse support trends to identify root causes, recommending permanent solutions such as system enhancements, bug fixes, or improved user training.
  • Act as a key escalation point for complex or high-priority issues, coordinating with technical teams to ensure swift resolution.
  • Manage communication with business users regarding ticket status, resolution timelines, and system outages.

System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Management

  • Oversee the scoping of operational system changes, working closely with business stakeholders to define clear requirements, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Lead the creation of intuitive and user-centric UI/UX designs and wireframes for new features and systems.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive testing strategies, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), to ensure solutions are robust and meet business requirements.
  • Plan and execute seamless system deployments and deliver effective user training programs.

Strategic Project Development & Execution

  • Develop and lead strategic initiatives by identifying opportunities for significant process optimisation, system innovation, or competitive advantage.
  • Construct and present compelling business cases to senior leadership, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI (ROI) projections, and feasibility studies.
  • Execute and manage strategic projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on the business impact and success of strategic initiatives.

Business Intelligence & Data Governance

  • Act as a key resource for business departments, assisting with reporting needs, dashboard creation, and data analysis.
  • Support and contribute to the company's Master Data Management (MDM) strategy, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of core business data.
  • Assist business with complex excel analysis.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems / Computer Science / Information Technology Management. A relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a business analysis, systems analysis, or related role.
  • At least 3-5 years of proven experience in a leadership position, directly managing a team of analysts or technical professionals.
  • Demonstrable experience managing the full project lifecycle for software or system implementations.
  • Hands-on experience with business intelligence and reporting tools (e.g. SSRS, Power BI)
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with Master Data Management (MDM) principles.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and root-cause analysis ability.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge on translating business needs into technical specifications.
  • Experience in report writing and executive feedback.
  • Experience in managing a Tier 2 or Tier 3 application support function or help desk is highly desirable.
