Position Purpose:

Requirements
Responsibilities:

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing upkeep and repairs on machinery in our Manufacturing Plant to ensure efficient and safe operation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all site safety related requirements.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality products - the key focus being Quality System certification/compliance.

QUALIFICATION AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • N6 or National Diploma (Electrical and/or Mechanical) or relevant qualification.
  • Millwright Trade test qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the FMCG industry with experience in the maintenance of processing and packaging equipment.
  • Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Filling, Labelling, Capping and packing machines from the following OEM's – Krones, Pe Labellers, Robopac, Arol and CFT.

SKILLSS & COMPETENCIES

We are seeking the services of a highly capable Maintenance Fitter .

The incumbent is responsible for minimizing plant downtime, maximizing equipment reliability and extending the operating life of plant equipment and machinery by executing corrective, preventive and proactive maintenance activities, with the aim to have minimal interruption to production.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman/Manager. The incumbent must:

Ensure equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance are conducted in a safe, timely and compliant manner, with minimal impact on operational activities. training, and supervision of production

personnel to ensure assets are operated in a safe and proper manner to increase efficiencies on site and maximize throughput.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspect all sections of plant and equipment in assigned areas of responsibilities, ensuring that all defects are noted on the inspection forms for immediate repair or during future maintenance shutdowns. Ensure job cards are created for all defects on the CMMS.
  • Daily reporting of problems that happened on shift and filling in of required (RCFA page 1, Job cards, etc.)
  • Repair equipment as identified through job card requests, improvement project,
  • During equipment breakdowns ensure that all equipment that has failed must be dealt with immediately and brought back to working conditions to ensure that it is available when it is required. Fault finding is done immediately after repairing the breakdown, with emphasis on finding and eliminating the root cause.
  • All temporary repairs must be reported to the maintenance manager immediately and a follow-up job card open.
  • Inform plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and to take all such remedial action as is necessary to minimize downtime as a result thereof.
  • Maintain workshop machinery to ensure they are fit for safe (Pedestal grinders, welding machines, ladders, etc.)
  • Ensure that maintenance jobs cards issued are completed timeously (before end of shift) and to the correct standard. Upon completion, production must sign the job card off.
  • Assist with the development of maintenance plans, risk assessments, maintenance work instructions, and required audits to ensure high levels of clarity, compliance, and understanding among staff.
  • Represent the company in a professional, ethical and positive manner always, both with respect to communication and appearance.
  • Undertake all duties in accordance with relevant work health and safety requirements and in accordance with PickNik Marketing Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

About the Role
The Maintenance Coordinator is an administrative operations role for all network maintenance activities, ensuring that ALL network outage tickets are attended to in a timely manner, field teams are dispatched effectively and the customer is kept informed throughout the process. This role is crucial for minimizing network downtime and maintaining a high standard of service by acting as the central communication hub between customers, field teams, and management. You will manage and prioritize all work orders, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that all maintenance tasks are completed according to established service-level agreements. This role requires strong coordination skills between various internal and external stakeholders across various platforms and teams. The Maintenance coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring successful & continuous service delivery for the business and its customers.

Minimum Requirements
  • Proficiency with dispatch and contractor coordination using operational systems and excel-based tracking tools
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in excel and operational support tools
  • A strong command of spoken English
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support multiple teams
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external field teams

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, assign, and track all maintenance work orders for the fiber network. This includes scheduling preventative maintenance and dispatching technicians for repairs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for field technicians, providing them with job details, technical support, and logistical information. You'll optimize their routes and schedules to maximize efficiency.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and our customers, providing updates on maintenance schedules, repair times, and any service interruptions.
  • Manage and document all work on systems provided
  • Follow through on all jobs until completion
  • Ensure any failed maintenance tickets are properly recorded for reporting purposes
  • Maintain accurate records across platforms
  • Verify contractor invoices and work completion in accordance with agreements

Work Schedule & Compensation Notes

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position based on a 40-hour work week.
  • Primarily based in the office around Melrose, Johannesburg.
  • Working hours:
    • 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (Monday to Friday) From the 2nd Sunday of March until the 1st Sunday of November
    • 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Monday to Friday) From the 1st Sunday in November until the 2nd Sunday of March
    • US public holidays will apply. South African public holidays will not apply
    • 15 days of leave
