We are looking for a skilled CNC Operator to set up, maintain and operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines. You will be responsible for producing high-quality precision parts and ensuring the machines are running efficiently and accurately.
ROLE PURPOSE
- Programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machining.
- Measure and verify all calculations prior to setting up the machinery.
- Enter all relevant codes to specify the feed, speed, and cut of any toolpath for a CNC.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, drawings and work instructions.
- Loading and unloading workpieces and CNC production equipment.
- Monitoring machining operations and performing quality control checks.
- Following safety requirements and maintaining certifications.
- Complete routine maintenance of their machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Shift work.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Skills
- Ability to translate mechanical documents and engineering drawings.
- Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
- Strong comprehension and analytical abilities.
- Good computer and mathematical skills.
- Understanding of Fanuc controls
- Experience on Vertical CNC lathes will be advantageous
Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in engineering is an advantage.
- 3 years' experience as a CNC Machine Operator.

Your mission:
- Machine Setup and Operation:

- Technical qualification in machining or related field - Tool & Die, Machinist, Turner etc.
- Training in Quality Control and Standards.
- Proficiency in Technical Drawing and Blueprint interpretation:
- Demonstrated experience in the ability to read and translate information into effective job planning approach and methodology.
- Ability to interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerencing) standards and industry norms.
- Proven experience in the setting up and operating of CNC machinery without supervision, while meeting the planning requirements and deadlines - Hurco experience is advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years' experience

Main Purpose: To program and operate the CNC and other machines in the machine shop according to specifications and to maximise capacity and productivity by adhering to Company's policies and procedures and health and safety principles.
Key Performance Areas:
- Read, understand drawings and ensure work is completed in accordance to codes and specifications (especially tolerances).
- Operate CNC, Lathe, Milling Radial Arm Drill and Cut Off Saw machines.
- Adhere to daily target and assignments.
- Maintain discipline i.e. timekeeping, attendance and quality of workmanship.
- Ensure that all tools are in good working condition, i.e. hand tools, portable electrical equipment (grinders, pencil grinders) gas equipment (cutting torch).

- Do stamp transfer and request QC for verifications and NDT's.
- Do proper planning to execute the work to the client's specification and the Company's standards i.e. quality, productivity and safety.
- Perform to target settings as per schedule.
- Minimise scrap and verify program with Chargehand before hot work.
- Ensure adherence to internal control standard (work to work orders and ITP).
- Operate the CNC machines according to safety specifications.
- Get specific work done in time, safely and within quality.
- Willing to learn and operate critical machines (Fermat vertical and Goratu horizontal milling with Heindenhein software).

- Experience in using hand tools including relevant welding equipment.
- Experience in working in a heavy engineering fabrication and within a machine shop facility.
- Knowledge of using measuring equipment (verniers, calipers, tapes, laser alignment, level gauge, depth gauge micrometer, etc.).
- Knowledge of machining of high pressure and high temperature (thick walled) components in the power industry.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, relevant machining practices, standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of materials, tools and machining equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant safety requirements within machine shop.
- Must be able to read, understand and interpret technical and component drawings and able to learn and check programs.
- Understand and adhere to safety protocols – lock out and tag out when working on machines, work permits for heights, pressurised equipment etc.
- Work to work packs from planning, maintenance request works order, planned maintenance schedule, verbal instructions, drawings and time constraints (analyse the drawings, determine the tooling and consumables to be used and the machine to be used).
- Always ensure the correct use of PPE.
