The position of linehaul local driver has become available at Triton Express Linehaul in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities

• Collecting and delivering cargo
• Daily pre trip inspection of vehicle
• Vehicle fault reporting – as and when required
• Ensuring care is taken when client's cargo is being loaded and off loaded from vehicle
• Ensuring that the addresses given for deliveries / collections are correct
• Ensuring that contact is always kept with depot
• Distributing and collecting of client's cargo
• Ensure that vehicles and trailers are always kept clean.
• Completion of daily collection, Pod's and delivery sheets.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 minimum (Matric)
• A valid unendorsed code 14 driver's license
• Valid PDP
• 3 – 5 years relevant experience
• Strong literacy skills (read, write and speak)
• A good geographical knowledge of the Gauteng area
• Ability to work under pressure

Requirements:

• 18 years old for a Code 10 license (medium trucks)

• 21 years old for a Code 14 license (heavy trucks and trailers

• Driving School : Enroll in a certified driving school that offers truck driver training. This prepares you for both the theory and practical tests.

• Medical Certificate : A valid medical certificate from a registered practitioner is required to confirm you’re fit to drive heavy vehicles.

• Professional Driving Permit (PDP) : Mandatory for all commercial drivers. You must apply for a PDP at a DLTC and pass a criminal background check

• Candidate with some driving history.

• Working hours can be long and irregular, especially for long-haul routes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.

• Transport goods and materials to designated locations according to delivery schedules.

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs.

• Ensure all documentation (trip sheets, delivery notes, logbooks, fuel slips) is accurately completed and submitted.

• Adhere to company transport policies and road traffic regulations .

• Ensure the secure loading and offloading of goods to prevent damage or loss.

• Maintain cleanliness and care of the assigned vehicle.

• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, fleet controllers, and customers.

• Report any incidents, delays, or route changes promptly.

• Support general yard duties when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid Code EC or Code C1/C driver’s license with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) .

• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in long-distance or local truck/commercial driving .

• Sound knowledge of South African road routes and transport regulations .

• Experience with heavy-duty trucks, trailers, or commercial delivery vehicles .

• Basic mechanical understanding (advantageous).

• Clean driving record and excellent safety awareness.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Truck Driver located in the City of Johannesburg. The Truck Driver will be responsible for operating and driving trucks, following DOT regulations, loading and unloading goods, and ensuring timely deliveries. Day-to-day tasks also include conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining logbooks, and communicating with dispatchers and customers.

• Responsible for the delivery of goods safely from one destination to another, within the required time frame.
• Comply with the times and procedures, regulations, and correct use of resources.
• Responsible for the vehicle – safe handling/operating of the vehicle.
• Day-to-day inspection of the vehicle and reporting of all faults and serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
• Completing vehicle inspection sheets and refueling of vehicles.
• Checking the truck list and following the route to the destination.
• Checking the truck and load before going out on the road.

• Return of returned products, empty containers (lugs), and undelivered invoices.
• Comply with 5S standards to ensure cleanliness, safety, and an orderly workplace.
• Communicate daily activities on the provided system.

• Must have a valid code 10 0r 14 driver's licenses.
• A valid PDP is required.
• An RSA ID is required.
