- Document Preparation:
- Drafting & formatting legal documents (pleadings, affidavits, briefs, memoranda & discovery requests)
- Proofreading documents for accuracy & compliance with legal formatting standards
- Compiling & organizing legal documents with case files.
- Case Management:
- Opening new case files, recording relevant information & updating case management systems
- Tracking deadlines, court dates & important milestones in litigation cases
- Maintaining detailed case files with proper organization and indexing
- Scheduling and Communication, Administrative Tasks:

The Legal Secretary will provide high-level administrative and litigation support to attorneys, ensuring the efficient handling of civil, commercial, family, and criminal law matters.
The role requires strong experience in litigation processes within both the Magistrate and High Court, with advanced knowledge of CaseLines and CourtOnline systems.
Salary: R15 000 – R18 000 per month.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare court statements, forms, pleadings, and discovery binders.
- Dictate and transcribe audio files and written notes from attorneys.
- Proofread, format, and finalise legal documents with accuracy.
- Manage case files, records, projects, and calendars to ensure seamless workflow.
- Maintain and update indexes, pleadings, and discovery records.
- Coordinate the collection, filing, and delivery of documents to courts and clients.
- Manage attorney diaries and schedule litigation-related deadlines.
- Arrange travel and meetings for attorneys as required.
- Support legal research and liaise with vendors, experts, opposing counsel, and internal teams.

Key areas of responsibility include:
Typing and formatting legal documents and commercial agreements (copy typing required)
Incorporating amendments to legal documents and commercial agreements
Maintaining/updating client contact details
Capturing timesheets of multiple professionals
Preparing pre-bills and billing memos (sending same to client)
Following up with debtors on unpaid invoices

Academic/Skills/Experience:
Matric essential
Legal secretary / conveyancing qualification advantageous
Minimum of at least 8 years conveyancing experience
Full working knowledge of all MS packages
Experience on Investec bonds essential (Nedbank and Absa advantageous)
In-depth knowledge of conveyancing software/systems such as: Lexis Convey, E4 (portal based), Windeed and
Search Works
Basic knowledge on Aderant Expert (CMS) accounting system
Competencies:
Ability to type documents confidently with attention to detail
