Aginion is seeking a Linux Server Administrator to join our team full-time (40 hours/week). This is a fully remote position, open to candidates based anywhere in South Africa. Applicants must have an unrestricted right to work in South Africa and access to a reliable broadband internet connection.
Role OverviewYou will play a key role in maintaining and evolving our Linux-based infrastructure, supporting both internal systems and client environments. Your focus will be on automation, scalability, reliability, and security across a broad range of services and platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Deploy and configure Linux-based services and customer solutions
- Optimize and expand our multi-site infrastructure architecture
- Manage and improve virtualization and container environments
- Implement monitoring and resource management solutions
- Automate log collection, analysis, and alerting
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation workflows
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools
We are looking for candidates who already have experience in, or are keen to deepen their expertise with:
- Operating Systems: Red Hat- and Debian-based distributions
- Virtualization: KVM/Proxmox and related technologies
- Web Servers/Proxies: Nginx, Nginx Unit, Tomcat, HAProxy
- Databases: MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite
- Scripting & Automation: Bash scripting and Python
- Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code experience is a plus. (Our DevOps setup is based on Gitlab/Saltstack + Terraform).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
- Clear communication and effective collaboration
- Attention to detail and structured working style
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a technical environment
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and project management tools
- Must be resident in South Africa
- Must have unrestricted work authorization
