Starting Salary: 29K South African Rand monthly (net), Negotiable

Aginion is seeking a Linux Server Administrator to join our team full-time (40 hours/week). This is a fully remote position, open to candidates based anywhere in South Africa. Applicants must have an unrestricted right to work in South Africa and access to a reliable broadband internet connection.

Role Overview

You will play a key role in maintaining and evolving our Linux-based infrastructure, supporting both internal systems and client environments. Your focus will be on automation, scalability, reliability, and security across a broad range of services and platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy and configure Linux-based services and customer solutions
  • Optimize and expand our multi-site infrastructure architecture
  • Manage and improve virtualization and container environments
  • Implement monitoring and resource management solutions
  • Automate log collection, analysis, and alerting
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation workflows
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools
Skills & Technologies

We are looking for candidates who already have experience in, or are keen to deepen their expertise with:

  • Operating Systems: Red Hat- and Debian-based distributions
  • Virtualization: KVM/Proxmox and related technologies
  • Web Servers/Proxies: Nginx, Nginx Unit, Tomcat, HAProxy
  • Databases: MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite
  • Scripting & Automation: Bash scripting and Python
  • Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code experience is a plus. (Our DevOps setup is based on Gitlab/Saltstack + Terraform).
