We are a pioneer in Legal AI, built on proprietary models, licensed data, and deep partnerships with Anthropic and AWS. Since 2019, we've expanded our footprint to 4 continents and have been supporting many of the world's most successful businesses, including GE, Pfizer, KPMG, and UBS.
This role is working EST hours Monday - Friday, 4:00pm - 1:00am SAST
About This Role
This role is part of our Legal Team with the aim to expand the scope into Legal Engineering and Implementation in the future. Initially, it will involve working directly with investment teams at some of the world's largest private equity and debt funds, financial institutions and corporates as they explore transaction opportunities. As an experienced legal professional, you will have responsibility for reviewing and negotiating a suite of certain contracts. In addition, Robin offers fantastic opportunities for personal career development in a variety of areas alongside traditional legal work.
This role will suit an experienced legal professional (whether a qualified solicitor or paralegal) who might be considering a position within a legal team at an investment bank, fund, asset management company or alternative legal service provider, focusing on contract review. At Robin we are proud to call a large number of these institutions our clients, and our core transactional work covers many of the same areas and document types – but we work in a much more modern, creative and flexible way
What You'll Do
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts such as confidentiality agreements, engagement letters and release letters, using a combination of Robin's AI technology and your own legal experience.
- Once the team is further established, reviewing the work of junior team members and assisting with their professional development and ongoing training (all of which will also be available to you).
- Testing Robin's technology products and feeding back issues, bugs and areas for improvement to our engineering and machine learning teams.
- To carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required
Qualifications
You will have at least 1+ years' experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating the core transactional documents regularly encountered by our clients (including confidentiality agreements, engagement letters and release letters). You will have previously worked with private equity, asset management or hedge fund clients, whether in-house, at a service provider or at a law firm, and will understand typical fund transaction structures and timelines.
You will enjoy taking the initiative and seeking answers to interesting practical and legal issues. You will be both technical and commercial, both in the practice of law and outside of it. Last (but certainly not least), you will be motivated by working in a fast-paced, diverse and intellectually challenging environment where collaboration between lawyers and non-lawyers is essential to achieving results.
What's In It For You
- Salary: Competitive
- Equity package: Generous equity scheme - everyone gets to be an owner of Robin AI
- Annual leave: 20 days PTO, in addition to the public holidays observed in the South Africa.
- Growth opportunities: We prioritise promotions for high performers and help you to progress your career.
What's it like working at Robin?
Our culture and values attract people who are creative, resourceful, and share our passion for excellence. At Robin, you're encouraged to push yourself and empowered to take risks. We support each other to think big, try new ideas, and navigate uncertainty. Whether you're at our headquarters or one of our worldwide offices, you'll find a world of opportunities to grow, thrive, and make a meaningful impact. See what life is like at Robin.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Robin
We are committed to building one of the most diverse technology companies in the world.
