Job Description
UX DESIGNER
WHO WE ARE
We are responsible for products that change the lives of people around the world, every day. We solve complex problems and build big ideas. We believe in the ability of technology to make the world a better place; we're driven to rip through conformity and create new solutions, smarter habits. We know why we're here: To unleash the potential of people through the power of technology. We are people multiplied by the power of tech and together we are changing the world.
If the above resonates with you, then you've come to the right place Read on.
CONTEXT | THE ROLE
UX Designers focus on understanding the users who sit at the very heart of the products that we create - the core of Platform45. As a UX Designer, your role is to define how a product works and how it needs to evolve throughout the design process, taking user insight into account and translating it into a workable concept to solve both the user and business problem. So if you're excited about the idea of working with raw data to discover insights and translating your findings into whatever artefacts a project requires - be it a journey map, information architecture, or wireframes - then this role is for you. From facilitating user interviews to one-on-one workshops where you'll get to go through playbacks with our clients, you'll have to be an agile, people person as you work closely with both Platform45 developers and external clients to ensure you're taking a concept, applying UX design methodologies, and turning it into a deliverable - this is problem-solving at its best.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES | THE WHAT & THE HOW
The Essentials
- Conducting user research in the early stages of a product.
- Concept and usability testing: conducting user interviews and creating UX roadmaps.
- Creative problem solving - coming up with low-fidelity concept designs out of the research based on the specs from the client.
- Fleshing out themes and insights based on research.
- Artefacts: information architecture, user flows, customer journeys, empathy maps, personas…
- Understanding wireframes and user flows to interpret feedback of:
- the different screen flows and how they stitch together.
- the technical requirements - to align business goals with user needs.
Technical Elements
- Because UX design is inherently human-based, a degree in social sciences would be helpful - psychology, sociology, anthropology.
- Experience in Design Thinking - solution design and thinking about the user is critical to this role.
- Experience using collaborative design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Figjam.
- Experience with user research tools.
- Familiarity with Excel for deep data analysis such as analysing data from in-market tests.
- UX Design accreditation from Human Factors International (HMI) or similar would be beneficial.
Critical Competencies
- A good understanding of design practices and design principles.
- An inquisitive mind and an out-of-the-box thinker who enjoys research and data.
- A team player that's deadline-driven and data-led.
- People skills:
- You will be client facing and will need to facilitate both workshops and playbacks to get vital customer information.
- The ability to work closely with Developers, Design Leads and Product Designers with Platform45 and the client's team.
- Interacting with agile teams.
