Duties & Responsibilities

The server & network infrastructure team is seeking a strong Linux & Systems Administration Specialist to join its team. You will require a proven track record with at least 5+ years’ experience in a similar role having supported Linux Systems in an enterprise environment. You will also preferably be certified on CentOS, RedHat or Oracle Linux. Network and Firewall related knowledge and skill is an advantage.
In this position you will be required to:

  • Install, configure, support and maintain Linux servers in development, test and production environments.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot performance and other issues.
  • Maintain design and support documentation.
  • Possess strong general knowledge of Infrastructure services relevant to Linux like DNS, NTP, network, security hardening and other common Linux services.
  • Administer Enterprise storage systems like NetApp, EMC, etc.
  • Create and maintain Bash scripts for automation and other tasks.
  • Install, configure and maintain a wide variety of open source and enterprise applications on Linux.
  • Ensure systems are backed up and can be restored in the event of a disaster.
  • Maintain a disaster recovery site.

Job objectives

  1.   4. Leadership: Play a leadership role within the legal team (comprising both Group Legal and external lawyers, as the work requires) as well as within the Group, across functions.
  5. Value: Be capable of clearly and effectively communicating legal advice to all levels of the business and the ability to provide business-focused, practical solutions.
  6. Risk: Advising on corporate risks (including managing organizational compliance with the requirements of a regulated industry), actions to take to mitigate those risks and strategies for negotiation to maximise the opportunity in risk.

  1. Expert knowledge of national policies, regulatory frameworks affecting the consumer healthcare and retail industries, including knowledge of current affairs
  2. A deep knowledge of the company and its corporate structure
  3. Knowledge of the healthcare and retail industries and its competitors, of the demand for the Group’s products or services, of the products or services themselves
  4. Awareness of likely developments and trends in the Group’s markets and its regulation.
  5. Awareness on wider commercial issues

  2. Technical legal ability: Strong drafting (contractual and opinion writing) and research skills
  3. Ability to triage and resolve complex issues working directly and collaboratively at all levels of the organisation

  1. 7 years of post-qualification experience in a corporate legal environment (top tier law firm or listed/multi-national corporate or at the bar)
  2. Strong legal experience leading negotiations on complex, high value transactions with cross-functional stakeholders
  3. Subject matter expertise in the consumer healthcare and retail industries and related legislation
  4. Experience in a regulated industry (banking, fin-tech, telecommunications etc.)
  5. Working across African jurisdiction
