What you will do

As a Sourcing Lead, you will partner with our client and internal teams and manage the planning and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives using a multi-step sourcing process.

  • Develop category specific requirements and scopes of work consistent with business requirements and client sourcing strategy
  • Conduct spend analytics and utilize analytical expertise to deliver a comprehensive total cost of ownership assisting the client business in delivering measurable cost savings
  • Initiate and structure efficient RFx’s, participate in supplier negotiations and support negotiation strategies based on supplier proposals and spend analytics
  • Utilize your well-developed sourcing skills to manage supplier selection processes and provide data and recommendations to ensure informed business awardswhile developing contractual agreements in collaboration with our client’s business and legal departments

Scope o f Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with Client Category Managers and/or SMEs on project strategy; determine sourcing approach and methodology to be applied based on the strategy
  • You will lead and execute the GEP sourcing process from start to finish, e.g., spend data collection and analysis, supply market analysis and supplier discovery if needed
  • You will manage suppliers during the sourcing process, including conducting supplier orientation and training on the sourcing process then following up with suppliers on milestone activities
  • You will also perform in-depth analysis of proposals submitted, facilitate supplier evaluations, draw conclusions, prepare comprehensive summaries, and present to the client in a concise manner
What you should bring
  • You should possess strong sourcing skills, including sourcing methodology and process, e-Sourcing technology, RFX development and management (3-5 years)
  • Familiarity with various best practice sourcing approaches and techniques
  • Knowledge of the indirect category would be advantageous (trends, suppliers, industry specifics and terminology, legal frameworks)
  • You should have the ability to facilitate a total cost ownership discussion with a client team and identify total cost elements
  • Strong ability to handle client issues and escalations with sensitivity and diligence, eliminating a need for further escalation
  • Proficiency in using e-Sourcing tools.
  • Excellent project management skill including project planning, time management, multitasking and critical path definition
  • Strong customer service orientation including demonstrated communication during issue resolution and relationship management skills
  • Willingness to learn and master client specific processes, terminology, political environment, systems and unique requirements by various business groups
  • Solid decision-making and problem-solving ability using available facts in sensitive client situations

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree (or in progress) in Science, Business or Engineering or similar stream or a combination of relevant experience.
  • Experience: 3 - 6 years previous work experience managing Strategic Sourcing is a must, procure to pay process, RFX auctions process and procurement process experience.
  • Languages:Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written). Portuguese is a plus.

  • Sourcing and Vendor Management Strategy Development
  • Work with Group Procurement Manager to develop and institutionalise a 1-3 year sourcing and vendor management strategy and translate this into action items.
  • Work closely with national Group cross-functional management teams (production and camp managers as well as head Operations managers) to ensure the delivery of an integrated supply chain benefit.
  • Analyse industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit the Group.
  • Develop a negotiation and contracting strategy that delivers against business objectives and achieves sustainable relationships with suppliers.
  • Identify strategic suppliers and develop the relationship from transactional to partnership status.
  • Identify critical supply lines and develop contingency sourcing options, partners for solutions, products and services.
  • Work with Group Procurement Manager to Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities and efficiencies and work collaboratively with Business managers to prioritize and drive implementation.
  • Work with HR to define and then achieve the B-BBEE targets related to procurement and enterprise development for the SA companies.
  • Sourcing Agreements Setup
  • Ensure 95%+ of operational sourcing is achieved through suppliers with sourcing agreements.
  • Monitor and correct non-adherence to sourcing agreements.
  • Develop preferred supplier status for capex suppliers as per a standard BOQ for site establishment.

Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, services or substitute materials.

  • Measure and manage sustainability practices within area of responsibility and ensure contracts and service level agreements support environmental and green practices.
  • Conduct HSEQ compliance assessments on supplier premises.
  • Influence suppliers’ production processes, technology decisions and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organisations.
  • Drive sustainability, risk, and compliance and BBBEE objectives.
  • Financial Management - support office.
  • Drive the management of external supplier relationships and contracts in collaboration with the regional and national management teams to ensure agreed service levels are met.
  • Ensure price tracking and trending are undertaken as part of market research on a regular basis.
  • Team Management
  • Lead and develop staff within the context of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Skills Development Act.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide regular feedback, including informal and formal staff appraisals.
  • Coach and support staff where necessary to achieve objectives.
  • Manage staff administration issues, including leave, time management and interaction with the wider business.
  • Manage and deliver on succession plans to enable the development of a future generation of leaders and specialists and ensure optimal turnover and retention levels are maintained.

  • Proactively investigate continuous improvement on procurement processes.
  • Plan and execute logistics (Road, Ocean and Air).
  • Conduct and track key supplier performance, maintaining long-lasting relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Execute and drive supplier sustainability projects and reports to support responsible sourcing.
  • Define and execute sourcing plans in accordance with strategic sourcing methodology in launching RFQ and RFP process for direct and indirect procurement.
  • Negotiate price, quantity, payment terms, warranties, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Work with legal counsel to ensure that all contracts relating to product procurement contain all details of the negotiation.
  • Assess quotes and compile a detailed assessment of cost breakdowns generating quote comparisons and contributing to internal supplier selection based on the quotes.
  • Provide solutions to improve and maintain vendor management resulting in the rationalisation and harmonisation of the supply base.
  • Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Support XGP requirements and form central point for Africa XGP process.
  • Manage GEP projects, contracts, and pricing.
  • Develop systems and processes for procurement and associated trade compliance processes.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Preferably an Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering diploma with Supply Chain / Business or related field.
  • CIPS / APICS related qualification.
  • Experience working with suppliers and conducting supplier evaluations will be an advantage.
  • 5 years proven experience in international sourcing processes.
  • 10 years solid experience in procurement and supplier relationship management (SRM).
  • Experience in metrology business or instrumentation industry is required.
  • Proficiency in SAP ERP including MRP and master data.
  • A thorough understanding of sourcing methodologies.
  • Sound time-management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, knowledge in iScala will be an advantage.
  • Possess continuous improvement mindset.
  • A good team player with good analytical thinking, meticulous and follow-up skills.
  • Initiative-taking and able to work independently under fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently, must multitask under minimal supervision.

What you will do
  • Develop category specific requirements and scopes of work consistent with businessrequirements and client sourcing strategy.
  • Conduct spends analytics and utilize analytical expertise to deliver a comprehensive total cost of ownership assisting the client business in delivering measurable cost savings.
  • Initiate and structure efficient RFx’s, participate in supplier negotiations and support negotiationstrategies based on supplier proposals and spend analytics.
  • Utilize your well-developed sourcing skills to manage supplier selection processes and provide data and recommendations to ensure informed business awards while developing contractual agreements in collaborationwith our client’s business and legal departments.
  • Collaborate with Client Category Managers and/or SMEs on project strategy; determine sourcing approach and methodology to be applied based on the strategy.
  • Lead and execute the GEP sourcing process from start to finish, e.g., spend data collection and analysis, supply market analysis and supplier discovery if needed. / Manage suppliers during the sourcing process, including conducting supplier orientation and training on the sourcing process then following up with suppliers on milestone activities.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of proposals submitted, facilitate supplier evaluations, drawconclusions, prepare comprehensive summaries, and present to the client in a concise manner.
What you should bring
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree (or in progress) in Science, Business or Engineering or similar stream or a combination of relevant experience.
  • Experience: 3 - 6 years previous work experience managing Strategic Sourcing is a must, procure to pay process, RFX auctions process and procurement process experience.
  • Languages:Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written). Portuguese is a plus.
