About the team:
Engineering Operations is the backbone of Luno's engineering organisation. We drive resilience, compliance, and operational excellence via our site reliability, data operations, service management, support engineering, and quality teams. At the same time, we play a critical role in strengthening Luno's global resilience strategy and incident response, with responsibilities that extend beyond engineering into organisation-wide business continuity. This role will sit at the intersection of engineering and the wider organisation, ensuring continuity, risk, and governance practices are embedded across Luno while enabling the engineering department to operate securely, efficiently, and at scale.
The role in a nutshell:
We're looking for a Resilience & Business Continuity Manager who will combine organisation-wide business continuity leadership with engineering-focused operational risk, audit, vendor, and financial governance. This role enables resilience and operational effectiveness across Engineering, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering Operations.
Your mission will be:
- Own and maintain Luno's Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework across the organisation, including impact assessments, recovery plans, and scenario testing.
- Partner with InfoSec, Compliance, and Risk to ensure regulatory alignment (e.g. DORA, ISO
- Lead annual BCM reviews, simulations, and cross-functional workshops.
- Maintain the Engineering Operations risk register and support risk owners to remediate or mitigate.
- Coordinate internal audit actions, preparing documentation and ensuring timely closure.
- Support vendor onboarding and renewals for Engineering Operations, ensuring budget approval is in place and helping to build business cases for new tools and services.
- Support the Engineering Ops Director in managing the engineering-wide budget, providing financial insights, tracking spend trends, and renewal timelines.
- Draft, maintain, and socialise engineering-wide operational policies, acting as a quality gatekeeper for documentation and audit readiness.
- Coordinate the review and governance of high-level engineering policies, ensuring they remain accurate, compliant, and aligned with operational and regulatory requirements.
A little about you:
- Strong knowledge of Business Continuity Management (BCM) standards and practices, with experience leading impact assessments, recovery planning, and simulations.
- Experience in operational risk management and internal audit processes, ideally in a regulated or technology-driven environment.
- Financial and operational analysis skills with ability to generate clear insights for leadership.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as DORA, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, SOC 2.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across executives, engineers, and control functions.

- Monitor internal and external environments for potential disruptive incidents and proactively inform stakeholders

2. Business Continuity Management
Ensure delivery and maintenance of a fit for purpose business continuity capability with regard to business leadership teams responsible for managing financial and reputational impact of disruptive events for Land bank
- Develop and implement BCM framework, policies, plans and standard operating procedures and BCM strategies for the Bank
- Develop and Facilitate business impact assessments (BIAs)
- Developm and facilitate the development and maintenance of BU Business Continuity Plans (BCPs)
- Perform research and benchmarking with other similar organization to ensure best practice
- Identify appropriate service providers
- Coordinate regular testing to enhance recovery capability & resilience
- Measure BCM capability across the organization
- Analysis and reporting on the status of Business Continuity capability, recoverability and resilience
- Monitor and report on IT DR testing and testing of all critical processes in the organization
- Provide pro-active risk mitigation and controls for all gaps identified across the organization based on BIA, Business recovery testing
- Ensure implementation of all action plans as part of operational plans and BCM strategy
3. Crisis Management
Ensure delivery and maintenance of a fit for purpose crisis management capability with regard to business leadership teams responsible for managing financial and reputational impact of disruptive events for Land bank
- Develop and maintain the Crisis Communication Plan (CCP)
- Provide guidance in the establishment and enablement of the Crisis Management Teams at business EXCO / strategic leadership
- Promote and sustain crisis management awareness culture
- Monitor execution of all plans and report on them
- Monitor internal and external environments for potential disruptive incidents and proactively inform stakeholders of such incidents
- Provide support to business during an invocation of the crisis management plan
- Coordinate and manage crisis management exercises
4. Stakeholder relationships

- A relevant Degree/Diploma in Business Management, Risk management
- 4 years BCM experience organizational wide (inclusive of emergency and crisis management )
- 4 years Knowledge and experience on IT DR
- 2 years Financial services experience
- Microsoft Office
- Business / Financial acumen
- Knowledge of risk management Principles
- Project Management Principles
- Advanced knowledge of Business Continuity Management principles
- Knowledge of DR & IT Governance Principles
- Travel as and when required
- Extended hours as and when required
- Required to work off site on occasion
- Required to activate the alternate recovery site
- Requires to represent Land Bank at external stakeholder forums
- Requires the authority to propose emergency interventions across business
