The project involves approximately 9,000m3 of earthworks to build a new 850m access road. The main Arrowtown – Lake Hayes Road has also been widened to allow easier access. The installation of utilities will include a pressure sewer system to be hooked into the Council connections.

Wilson Contractors were involved with the Jacks Point Development for over 5 years, carrying out bulk excavation and roading in most stages of the development. We have constructed over 9 km of roading and in excess of 2km of rural walkway as well as preparing urban footpaths, services to hundreds of housing lots, an 18-hole championship golf course and a recreational lake facility. We completed 22,000m3 of bulk earthworks, 250,000m3 bulk earthworks for the construction of the recreational lake facility and it has been estimated we completed 350,000m3 of bulk earthworks in the construction of the Golf Course.
We were successfully involved in this project from the start, working closely with designers, engineers, specialist contractors, builders and developers. The standard of workmanship on this project has been highly commended by many people including Lakes Environmental inspectors.
UtilitiesWilson Contractors offer a comprehensive service covering the full range of utility installations. This includes laying and commissioning of storm water, wastewater and water reticulation and the underground infrastructure required for power, telecommunications and gas.
Our work has been carried out for various clients including District Councils and large private developers. Our drain layers are registered and have extensive knowledge of commercial and residential drainage and can offer our clients technical consultation with drainage design and project management.
GPS TechnologyWilson Contractors has the latest in GPS machine control technology which can be utilised in both bulk earthworks and civil road construction. Designs are produced in a format that can be efficiently exported into machine control, onsite works are completed efficiently and to high accuracy with as-builts and site measures being mapped as the work progresses, ensuring accurate and up to date records and quantities are available at all times.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible to :
- Consult with relevant stakeholders to develop detailed business cases for medium-sized to complex projects, determine the capital expenditure, return on investment, resource requirements, as well as assessment of risks and benefits in preparation of annual capital budget
- Prepare and manage annual capex and renewals budget based on input from plant cost centre managers,ensuring alignment with the mills and Sappi SA five year rolling capital/growth plan
- Review, develop, and coordinate all project justifications, cost estimates, and execution plans
- Coordinate pre-feasibility studies for projects as required, utilising input from both internal and external resources to ensure that results are carefully documented and validated
- Determine the resource requirements for projects, including capex, operational cost, skill types, as well as the resources for the change management elements
- Ensure all engineering designs comply with the appropriate engineering standards and design codes
- Complete bid reviews and analysis of the equipment supply proposals
- Coordinate the execution of the mills projects to meet the plan that has been approved
- Prepare and present project reports to meet the requirements of PPC meetings
- Develop detailed project work breakdown structures in SAP and manage the project’s cost to plan
- Develop the mills cash flow forecast and ensure compliance with the forecast with input from the project responsible persons
- Drive the scheduling, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the new equipment and drive the testing, highlighting any identified design efficiencies.
- Ensure the department compliance with all statutory, safety, environmental, and mill procedures
- Manage the projects department, which includes the drawing office, project team, and all project resources, managing project delivery and work output
What are we looking for?
- Project Manag ement Professional (PMP) or equivalent
- BSc or National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Processing would be preferred
- 5-8 years of project implementation experience in a manufacturing environment

Background
The role sits within the Finance & Projects team based in the Johannesburg office. The team is predominantly active in infrastructure sector projects. Of key importance to the role is the ability to navigate around project agreements, and in particular concession agreements or PPP agreements power purchase agreements, construction contracts and operation and maintenance contracts, equipment supply agreements. The candidate should also be familiar with drafting consortium and / or shareholder agreements, and to the extent that they have acted for public sector clients, drafting of procurement documents. The practice advises mainly private sector clients including developers, consortiums and project companies, sponsors, EPC contractors, operators and industrial suppliers. The team also acts for development financing institutions both in South Africa and in Africa generally on their infrastructure projects in Africa.
In addition to the above, the candidate should demonstrate an understanding of the regulatory environment related to infrastructure and energy projects. The Candidate Required
