Position Summary

We are searching for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Short-Term Insurance Underwriter to assess risks and process short-term policy applications with accuracy and integrity. This position is based in Durban and offers a competitive basic salary ranging from R13,000 to R20,000 per month , depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

As a Short-Term Insurance Underwriter, you will:

  • Evaluate and assess insurance applications for short-term cover

  • Analyze risk factors and decide on coverage and premiums

  • Ensure policies comply with FAIS and RE5 regulations

  • Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients

  • Maintain underwriting standards and policy documentation

  • Monitor renewals, endorsements, and claims trends

  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure service delivery excellence

What We’re Looking For Minimum Requirements:
  • FAIS Accredited (NQF 4 or higher in short-term insurance)

  • RE5 Certification – essential

  • 3–5 years of short-term underwriting experience

  • Strong knowledge of the South African insurance market

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in underwriting platforms

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills

Location:

This position is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to the area.
