Job Description

-You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality machine control systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects, leverage cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to the growth and success of the company.

K ey Tasks:

  • Implement systems for the effective control and monitoring of Advanced Technology Automation products.
  • Understanding of configuration management and experience with Windchill or eB software will be advantageous
  • Implement and enhance control system standards for machine interoperability and external client connectivity.
  • Ensure interfacing to client control systems is implemented effectively. Service authority to meet clients commissioning milestones and service level agreement requirements.
  • Develop and review code.
  • Perform sub-system level tests and record the results.
  • Design, development and commissioning of Human Machine Interfaces and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition Interfaces for Advanced Technology Automation products including the setting of standards.
  • Investigate and propose ideal instrumentation solutions for the specific environment to be used in. Advisory role to the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Discipline and the Research & Development function into instrumentation selection.
  • Develop electrical systems as needed for Advanced Technology Automation products.
  • Technical design documentation, report writing, deliver presentations and hold design reviews.
  • Formulation of product data packs.
  • Strict adherence to all internal HSE policies and procedures as well as all legal regulations/requirements.

Qualifications

-Formal qualifications:

  • Minimum qualification is a Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Specializing in control and instrumentation

Role Specific Knowledge:

  • 0-5 years' experience in design, development, commissioning and interfacing of control and instrumentation systems.
  • Familiarity with peer review and presentation of technical work.
  • Experience with control system interfacing standards and best practices.
  • Experience with instrumentation selection and configuration.

  • Ensure all systems comply with OHSA, SANS, and other relevant electrical safety regulations.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation in line with Ingrain's operational excellence philosophy.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Qualifications:

  • BSc / BEng / BTech in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Light or Heavy Current).
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a
    Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng / Pr.Tech.Eng)
    with ECSA will be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5
    years' experience
    as a E&I Engineer in a continuous production or manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of
    2 years' supervisory experience
    managing a team of Technicians, Electricians, and Apprentices.
  • Proven track record in planning and executing E&I maintenance and projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of
    PLC systems, programming, and design
    .
  • Working knowledge of
    electrical installation legislation and safety regulations
    (OHSA, SANS).
  • Familiar with
    budgeting, cost control
    , and
    capital expenditure processes
    .
  • Knowledge of
    Talent and Performance Management processes
    .
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer
.

Job Duties:

  • System Design: Develop and design electrical and instrumentation systems based on project specifications.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure reliability and system uptime.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all activities adhere to South African safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and maintenance logs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other professionals to achieve project goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.
  • Proficient in using design and simulation software.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems and industrial automation technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Registration as a candidate with the relevant professional body (e.g., Engineering Council of South Africa - ECSA).
