Purpose of the job:
To drive sustainable brand growth through consumer insights, market trends, and innovation. This includes leading the 5-year innovation pipeline, developing and executing new products, packs, formats, and experiences, and ensuring effective commercialization. The role also oversees TTL campaigns, trade execution, and revenue management (pricing, mix, PPA, promo effectiveness). Requires strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and cross-functional project leadership.
Key Responsibilities but not limited to:
Identification of growth opportunities
- Define and prioritize growth opportunities for brand / category based on deep-dive into demand space, occasions, PPA, region, consumer target, market trends and competitors weaknesses.
- Consumer Behaviour Forecasting: Analyse changes in consumer behavior and preferences, adjusting strategies to maintain relevance. Ensuring all strategies are rooted in category, consumer and shopper insight and complemented by a solid understanding of demand spaces, consumer needs, emerging underserved consumer groups like GenZ and females, and category white spaces with CMI.
- Identify growth opportunities and develop clear trade marketing and sales guidelines for ‘maintain’ brands within the category.
Innovation Pipeline Development:
- Innovation Culture: Foster a culture of innovation within the marketing team, encouraging creative thinking and experimentation with new marketing and innovation ideas.
- Innovation Opportunities: Identify and pursue opportunities for new products, packs, formats, beyond the bottle and consumer experience innovations ideas. Developing 5 Year Innovation Pipelines that will be margin enhancing by working closely with cross functional teams and the regional Innovation Hub.
- Product Development:Lead the ideation and manage the innovation development process and guardrails, concepts, design, implementation, PIPO management, and execution of the identified projects through Stage Gate process, supported by the SC Project Management Teams.
Research and Commercialisation of Innovation:
- Consumer Research: Conduct robust testing in collaboration with the CMI team to validate new concepts with consumer, customer, and shopper insights. Including qualitative, quantitative, conjoint elasticity, and shopper studies to assess volumetric impact of initiatives on total business incremental growth.
- Commercialisation of Innovation Projects: Costing analysis of liquid and pack COGS, and production costs and overheads with Finance and RMG stakeholders to optimize margin accretion of all innovation projects.
TTL Campaigns, Trade Marketing, and Shopper Strategies:
- Campaign Ideation and Execution: Lead the ideation and execution of TTL creative marketing campaigns, using innovative approaches to enhance brand visibility, consumer experience, and engagement. Develop and execute all campaigns related to innovation and pack launches.
- Trade Marketing and Shopper Strategies: Co-creation of trade marketing strategies using shopper market research to understand consumer behavior and preferences across channels. Collaborate on playbook guardrails with trade marketing for segmentation strategies, premium visibility, promotions, and activations.
RMG Commercial Capability: Pricing, Mix, and PPA
- Commercial Capability: Develop price positioning guidelines for sustainable revenue growth and profitability across the portfolio in partnership with RMG. Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and consumer and customer behaviour to adjust pricing strategy accordingly. Lead the use of advanced RMG tools (e.g. conjoint) to evaluate price elasticity, competitor relativity, and volumetric impact.
- Mix and Margin Management: Analyse product mix and margin performance to identify areas for improvement ensuring a full value chain and total P&L assessment of pack, product, and category mix.
- Pack and Price Marketing: Assess competitor landscape pack value curves and pricing gaps for new profit pools to optimize and develop new pack and format launches at magic price points.
Promotional Effectiveness and Performance Analysis
- Promotional Effectiveness: Evaluate promotional activities and campaign effectiveness in driving volume, revenue, and profitability return on investment. Develop data driven insights to measure the success of growth and innovation projects and make recommendations for optimization.
- Performance Analysis and Metrics: Conduct regular performance analysis to measure the effectiveness of revenue management, brand, and trade marketing initiatives. Establish and monitor key KPIs vs business plan including volume, revenue, GP, listings, ranging, weighted and numeric distribution, promotion, rate of sale, open orders, stock on hand, expiry and write off risks.
Operational Management:
- Resource Management:Oversee budgets for growth and innovation projects, ensuring efficient allocation of resources in line with ROFO principles.
- Team Management: Manage team resource allocations and performance across projects and initiatives.
- Cross Functional Collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and foster partnerships that support growth and innovation: including RMG, finance, sales, trade marketing, legal, supply chain, the Innovation Hub, and external agencies and partners, to align innovation, growth and revenue management strategies with overall business goals. Work closely with brand and trade marketing to ensure successful execution of growth and innovation initiatives.
Presentations:
- Develop presentations for MT, Global visitors and other stakeholder engagement
Education & Experience:
- A relevant and recognized Bachelor’s, Masters or Post-Graduate qualification in Commerce, Marketing, Economics, Business Science or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
8+ years of experience in growth strategy, innovation management, or a similar role within the alcohol industry.

Oversees the entity's Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) function and framework, ensuring the effective tracking of performance against strategic objectives and the timely reporting of progress to internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
Strategy, Transformation, Innovation and Reporting
- In consultation with the CEO, develop a credible CETA’s strategy aligned to best practices in the market. li>Obtain strategic direction from the CEO to support the formulation of the CETA Transformation, Innovation, Research and Reporting strategy, plans and budgets.
- Contribute to the enhancement into the design and development of the long-term vision for the CETA.
- Undertake continuous environmental scanning and trend analysis and ensure global and local trends in Construction sector forms integral part of CETA strategy and skills delivery matrix.
- Oversee the development and alignment of key strategic documents, including the Sector Skills Plan (SSP), Strategic Plan (SP), and Annual Performance Plan (APP).
- Monitor progress to ensure successful implementation of CETA strategy, SSP, operational plans for achievement of objectives and targets.
- Lead the development of the CETA's Research Agenda, defining research priorities, methodologies, timelines, and expected outcomes thereof.
- Conduct and lead research projects, ensuring data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions at the CETA.
- Oversee preparation, finalisation and approval of Quarterly Monitoring Reports (QMR/SETMIS Reports) and Performance Reports (Monthly, Quarterly and Annually).
- Oversee CETA participation in DHET research forum meetings to stay updated on recent developments, SSP framework changes, and expectations for SSP development.
- Oversee the review of the draft SSP with key stakeholders for validation and feedback; including receipt and review of DHET feedback on the draft SSP prior to final submissions.
- Oversee WSP/ATR Stakeholder Workshops for the construction / build sector participants.
- Oversee the development of the CETA’s internal Scorecards to ensure alignment with the SP, APP and the AOPs. li>Lead transformation initiatives to drive positive change for the CETA and the industry. Align CETA’s transformation strategies with national priorities and regulatory frameworks. li>Lead the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) function to track organisational performance, identifying areas for improvement and reporting on such.
Education, Training and Quality Assurance (ETQA) and Projects Management Function
- Oversee the qualifications alignment process and development of occupational qualifications in line with current frameworks.
- Manage QCTO and stakeholders’ expectations, ensuring completion of qualification development process. li>Manage the allocation and disbursement of discretionary grants (DG); monitor and manage the DG approval processes in line with DG policies of the CETA.
- Manage accreditation of training providers, assessors and moderators; monitor and manage site visits and the verification processes as part of the overall accreditation process.
- Manage the appointment and performance of Qualification Development Facilitators.
- Develop and implement annual quality assurance plan in line with the targets set.
- Manage the coordination and assessment of learning materials for specific qualifications.
- Develop and manage the implementation of the certification policies, procedures and business processes.
- Ensure establishment and maintenance of credible CETA projects management function to ensure effective and efficient service delivery across all projects in the organisation.
- Lead the digitisation strategy of the CETA for effective and high-performance objectives attainment.
General responsibilities attached to this role
- Provide input into audit processes and queries and respond to audit findings within defined timeframes.
- Identify and monitor departmental risks and develop and maintain a risk register from such activities. Implement mitigation to manage risks within the department.
- Prepare regular management reports for governance and executive management reporting processes.
- Establish processes and routines that ensure the CEO’s and Accounting Authority’s decisions for implementation.
- Create a high-performance culture and manage team performance effectively.
- Ensure the timely management of poor performance and disciplinary matters.

- Report on adoption rate of research findings in strategic decision-making.

Desired Skills, Experience, Competencies and Attributes
- Master’s in Business Administration, Finance, Project Management or Corporate Strategy or any related NQF 9 qualification. li>Minimum of 8 (eight) years’ management experience, which at least 5 must have been in a senior management role. li>Proven experience in leading and directing teams; plus demonstrated experience in reporting to executives and boards on governance, risk and compliance control matters.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing organisational strategies.
- Knowledge of higher education sector, the SDA, SDLA, SAQA Act and the PFMA are essential.
- Computer literacy: Advanced Excel and Data Analytical skills are required.

Remuneration and Benefits
