Qualifications:

Who are we looking for?

  • 8-10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, including hands-on experience with servers, networks, and cloud environments.

This role oversees the entire Group's network and infrastructure, spanning:

Qualifications

  • Qualification: NQF Level 7 (Bachelor's) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Networking certification in Mikrotik advantageous

Experience and knowledge

  • Proven experience in network and infrastructure management, ideally with exposure to ISP environments.
  • Proven track record managing enterprise-scale networks with multiple sites.
  • Background in ISP operations (provisioning, monitoring, client support) - advantageous

To enable the infrastructure team in Afrocentric Technologies teams to resolve all calls/requests/Incidents on a day-to-day basis. Deal effectively with vendors, third party vendors as well as service providers. Create standard procedures to enhance scalability and performance of existing infrastructure architecture. Job description:

The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and operational management of PSG's hybrid IT infrastructure. This includes on-premises and cloud environments enabled by Microsoft Azure, HP and Aruba networking equipment, HP servers and SAN storage, Windows and Linux operating systems, and SQL Server databases. The role ensures high availability, performance, scalability, security, and continuity of the infrastructure supporting all PSG divisions.

Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Strategy & Planning
  • Develop and maintain PSG's infrastructure roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Lead infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency and resilience.
Hybrid Environment Management
  • Oversee the management of Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Azure, and on-premises data centres.
  • Ensure seamless integration between cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Manage virtualization platforms, storage systems, and backup solutions.
Network & Connectivity Oversight
  • Manage core network infrastructure including HP/Aruba switches, firewalls, and WAN/LAN connectivity.

Landscape Documentation

Job Description
The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and operational management of PSG's hybrid IT infrastructure. This includes on-premises and cloud environments enabled by Microsoft Azure, HP and Aruba networking equipment, HP servers and SAN storage, Windows and Linux operating systems, and SQL Server databases. The role ensures high availability, performance, scalability, security, and continuity of the infrastructure supporting all PSG divisions.

*Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Strategy & Planning *

  • Develop and maintain PSG's infrastructure roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Lead infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency and resilience.

*Hybrid Environment Management *

  • Oversee the management of Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Azure, and on-premises data centres.
  • Ensure seamless integration between cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Manage virtualization platforms, storage systems, and backup solutions.

*Network & Connectivity Oversight *

  • Manage core network infrastructure including HP/Aruba switches, firewalls, and WAN/LAN connectivity.
  • Ensure network performance, security, and redundancy across PSG locations.
  • Collaborate with the Firewall Engineer and Security teams on perimeter and internal network controls.

*Landscape Documentation *

  • Maintain comprehensive infrastructure landscape documentation, including topology diagrams, system dependencies, and configuration records.
  • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audits, troubleshooting, and planning.
  • Align documentation with CMDB standards and change management processes.

*Desktop Computers *

  • Oversee procurement of desktop computers, monitors and peripherals.
  • Manage the lifecycle of desktop hardware including deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of desktop assets, including tracking usage and replenishment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for warranty claims, replacements, and service agreements.
  • Implement standards and policies for desktop configurations and user access.
  • Monitor performance and usage trends to inform future procurement and support strategies.

*Security & Compliance *

  • Ensure infrastructure compliance with PSG's security policies and regulatory requirements (POPIA, GDPR, FSCA, Joint Security Standard).
  • Support patching, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security Manager on risk mitigation and audit readiness.

*Monitoring, Maintenance & Lifecycle Management *

  • Oversee infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning.
  • Plan and execute hardware replacements, firmware updates, and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate asset records in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

*Incident & Change Management *

  • Manage infrastructure-related incidents and service requests via JIRA Service Management.
  • Participate in change advisory board (CAB) meetings and ensure proper documentation and testing of changes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.

*IT Continuity Responsibilities *

  • Develop and maintain PSG's IT Continuity Plan, ensuring alignment with business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Identify critical infrastructure components and ensure redundancy and failover capabilities.
  • Conduct regular continuity testing, including backup restoration, failover simulations, and recovery drills.
  • Collaborate with business units to define RTOs and RPOs for key systems.

*Cloud Integration and DevOps *

*Operational Reporting *

  • Produce regular reports on infrastructure health, capacity, performance, and risk posture.

*Minimum requirements: *

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or Administrator, Aruba Certified Switching Professional, Red Hat or Linux equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of HP servers, SAN storage, Windows/Linux OS, and SQL Server.

Herotel is seeking a highly skilled and results driven Network Manager based in Potchefstroom or Klerksdorp.

The position will report to the Head of Technology.

Overview:

The Network Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Infrastructure and Field Services teams in the Region to ensure network uptime and quality. The onboarding and management of Contractors to execute Infrastructure and Field Services activities might also be applicable. The Network Manager is responsible for implementing tactics aligned to Herotel's strategic goals.

The Key Responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:

  • Infrastructure – be the custodian of all physical infrastructure in the region to ensure the network is always available, provides quality experience to customers and is built and maintained to standard.
  • Infrastructure Contractor management – onboarding, managing and QA of all contractors providing technical services. Ensuring that contractors are focused and motivated to achieve Herotel Goals.
  • Field Services – executing all customer premises activities timely and to standard. Be the custodian of every customer's connection and internal network in your region.
  • Specialists – support, train, implement and maintain National Standards and Best Practices.

Functional Strategic/Tactical planning:

  • Develop a clear tactical plan to execute the National Strategy and Goals in your Region, ensuring that it also aligns with other departments, regions, and functions.
  • Analyse functional data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement in customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure local network technical teams (contractors where applicable) are aligned to creating value for customers and are focused on improving overall value creation flow.
  • Ensure teams are focused, skilled and enabled to identify root problems and constraints, and to solve these.
  • Produce functional reporting.

Network Management

  • Ensure that Field Operation Managers (FOM) (contractors where applicable) and Specialists develop operational plans in accordance with the tactical plan.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet customer service demands and ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure that FOM's (contractors where applicable) lead operational teams into action to execute plans by establishing daily, weekly, and monthly routines as well as running projects and ad-hoc activities.
  • Establish KPI's for every role to ensure speed, cost, quality and risk performance is measured and improved.
  • Facilitate effective and ongoing cross-functional alignment and flow improvement by co-facilitating the local Area L2 MOS collaboration with other functions in the local value chain.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships.

Leadership

  • Lead and coach the functional management team to apply and implement the management principles, lead and manage their teams, and build a healthy culture in the business.
  • Align every aspect of the networks team with the business goals.

    Ensure the results of the region are in line with the goals set for the region.
