SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

Our client based in Pretoria is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic Tax/Accounting Manager to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional with a strong background in accounting and tax, proven leadership ability, and experience managing multiple client portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and review a portfolio of clients’ financials and tax obligations
  • Oversee preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax returns
  • Review and approve Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
  • Ensure full SARS compliance and handle SARS queries, audits, and correspondence
  • Prepare and review management accounts and monthly reporting packs
  • Perform reconciliations (debtors, creditors, bank, loan accounts)
  • Supervise and train junior staff and review their work for accuracy and compliance
  • Handle payroll reviews and ensure EMP501 reconciliation and submissions
  • Assist clients with tax planning, compliance advice, and business structuring
  • Liaise directly with clients regarding financial queries and strategic tax advice
  • Keep up to date with changes in tax laws and accounting standards
  • Monitor internal controls and ensure best practices in all financial processes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or Taxation (BCom Accounting, BCompt, or similar)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience at an accounting or tax firm
  • Experience managing multiple client accounts
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license
  • Reliable home WiFi connection (for hybrid or remote work as needed)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Tax & Accounting Team Leader would be responsible for various client matters and administrative details as well as supervision and training of Trainee Accountants.

Duties & Responsibilities

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  1. Systems and Technology:
    1. DataGrows CRM is maintained with accuracy.
    2. Implement the latest technology to improve business practices.
    3. All employees are trained on systems and software throughout the business.
    4. Current systems are reviewed and improved.
  2. Employee Management:
    1. Ensure employees are aligned with the company goals through revision of all work attended to by Trainee Accountants.
    2. Confirm monthly that all the employee timesheets are updated and submitted correctly.
    3. Improve employees on their client relations and services.
    4. Ensure that all employees are trained and that their logbooks are updated.
    5. Improve and maintain a great company culture.
    6. Conduct feedback sessions and ensure employee wellbeing is looked after.
  3. Retaining Clients:
    1. Ensure client compliance relating to legislation.
    2. All retainer clients receive their Monthly Management Accounts.
    3. All client businesses receive a high value-added service from the company.
    4. Ensure minimal client complaints throughout the company.
  4. Business Operations:
    1. All accounting related tasks are completed from processing to AFS.
    2. Payroll tasks are attended to regularly.
    3. CIPC matters and other statutory functions are completed.
    4. PAYE, UIF, SDL and IRP5 Recon ( ) submissions are done within the set deadline.
    5. SARS E-filing (VAT, PAYE, Income tax).
    6. Attend to SARS matters and tax returns for individuals and companies.
    7. Manage company audits without any reviews.
    8. Ensure that all relevant processes and feedback are done on a regular basis.
    9. Align the focus of employees to the focus of the practice.
    10. Utilize and follow all other practice management tools with care.

  • Completed SAIPA Articles
  • SAIPA Registered
