Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Hydraulic Technician/Auto Electrician located in Witbank. The Hydraulic Technician/Auto Electrician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems and electrical components of trackless underground mining machines. Daily tasks include diagnosing hydraulic and electrical issues, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Qualifications
- Experience in hydraulic systems maintenance and repair
- Proficiency in auto electrical systems diagnostics and repair
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of trackless underground mining machines
- Excellent technical and mechanical skills
- Ability to work onsite in Witbank
- Relevant certifications or vocational training in hydraulics or auto electronics
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team

Duties & Responsibilities
- Repairing and overhauling hydraulic cylinders, valve blocks, and power packs
- Performing mechanical assembly, fitting, and repair work according to technical drawings and work instructions
- Investigating faults and damages, preparing repair proposals, and writing technical reports
- Conducting hydraulic pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning (sometimes in the presence of clients)
- Operating conventional and CNC lathes/milling machines for component repairs and modifications
- Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Performing quality checks and inspections to ensure high standards of work
- Recording and reporting work activities, and communicating directly with project engineers and colleagues
Desired Experience & Qualification
- South African Trade Test (Red Seal)
– Fitter & Turner / Mechanical Fitter / Hydraulic Fitter - 3–6 years of relevant experience
- A valid heavy lifting certification is considered an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with big hydraulic systems/cylinders, pneumatics, and mechanical maintenance
- Background in industrial, mining, marine, or oil & gas maintenance and repair
- Ability to work confidently from technical drawings, work instructions, and procedures
- Machining skills (lathe, milling, CNC) will be an advantage
- Experience with hydraulic testing and commissioning is preferred
- Experience in assembling hydraulic cylinders
- Strong safety awareness, problem-solving ability, and teamwork mindset
- Must be
Afrikaans speaking
