Your role

About the Role

We’re hiring a Sales Engineer to partner closely with our Sales team and support our customers in their experimentation journey. This is a technical role where you will shape how dozens of Eppo customers think about experimentation and help them get started with our platform and achieve long-term technical success. Individuals who excel at this job have the ability to think strategically and invest time in developing re-usable artifacts and best practices which are made available across all customers.

What you’ll do as a Sales Engineer:

  • Serve as the key technical contact with our customers and partners as they integrate with Eppo’s SDKs.
  • Couple technical knowledge with a consultative mindset to understand customer needs, gather requirements, and influence decisions.
  • Be the first point of contact for high priority customer issues or questions related to Eppo’s technical architecture and usage.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Sales Engineering, Partner Engineering, Technical Account Management, Solutions Architecture, or any other customer facing engineering role.
  • You are familiar with the software development lifecycle, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
  • You are familiar with modern cloud data warehouse providers as well as product analytics and ETL tools.
  • You are comfortable with at least one of the following languages: Java, Go, JS, Python, PHP, NodeJS, Ruby, .NET, iOS, or Android.
  • You have worked with APIs and one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years Proven track record of successful sales experience, specifically within the key industrial sectors—notably mining groups, coal mining operations, overland conveyor systems, and power generation stations.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of engineering principles, particularly in relation to mining, aggregate, Sugar and general industry equipment and machinery.
  • Experience in managing distributors will be a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively communicate with customers at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Must reside in Johannesburg or be willing to relocate to Johannesburg or stay within a 30km radius.
  • Open to South African citizens only.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and rotating equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical mechanical drawings and specifications.

Role Summary:

We are looking for a high-energy , results-driven Sales Engineer to drive business growth in the Mpumalanga region, with a focus on the industrial sector. The successful candidate will be based at the Timken office in Pomona, Kempton Park, and must be willing to travel regularly to the Mpumalanga region to serve and support customers. Strong technical abilities and a proven track record in sales—particularly within the Industrial Distribution sector—are essential, along with the ability to build lasting customer relationships and identify opportunities for Timken’s innovative product solutions

Key responsibilities:

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for customers in the Mpumalanga region.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships to drive sales growth and meet revenue targets.
  • Providing technical expertise and support to customers, assisting them in selecting and applying the most suitable products for their needs.
  • Conducting market research and analysis to identify opportunities for business expansion and growth within the region.
  • Implementing effective sales strategies to maximize market penetration and increase market share.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of products and services, as well as resolving any customer issues or concerns.
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends, developments, and competitors' activities to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Managing assigned distributors as directed by management.
