CORE PURPOSE OF JOBTo facilitate the learning process for undergraduate and postgraduate students intending to become radiographers.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS- Facilitate the teaching and learning of undergraduate and postgraduate radiography students.
- Conduct clinical teaching and assessment at accredited training facilities.
- Perform academic administrative duties.
- Facilitate academic engagement.
- Participate in research activities in the department.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- In-depth knowledge of the theory and practice of Diagnostic Radiography
- Experience of clinical radiographic teaching and assessment
- Experience in teaching academic radiographic modules.
- Strong skills in dealing with people at all levels.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office
To be considered for the appointment to this post, candidates must have:
- A Masters in Radiography degree or equivalent
- A postgraduate qualification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Current registration as a Radiographer with the HPCSA
- Proven record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Lecturing experience would be an advantage.

This will be a joint appointment with the Eastern Cape Department of Health with academic and clinical responsibilities .
Key Performance Areas- Strategy development and execution for the Department.
- Academic, clinical, and administrative leadership of the Department.
- Lead curriculum and program development for the discipline in collaboration with the medical education unit and contribute to the core functions of the university through serving on faculty and university structures as delegated by the executive dean.
- Lead research, including research supervision and community engagement in the Department.
- Promoting and undertaking teaching and training across all levels of students or junior colleagues (undergraduate medical students, medical interns, medical officers, and postgraduate students) including coordination, assessments, etc.
- Participate in interprofessional education and collaboration pertaining to the health personnel and allied health disciplines.
- Manage human resources in the Department and ensure optimal level of skills and competencies of all staff, incl. sessional medical practitioners, within the Department.
- Manage the financial, physical, and other resources in the Department
- Manage the marketing, liaison, and engagement of the Department
- Manage the academic administrative functions within the Department in collaboration with Academic Administration.
- Enhance Mission and Vision of the Faculty and University and ensure transformation initiatives are met.
- Contribute to strengthening of the clinical health services platform, with a focus on regional and national health challenges.
- Possess expert knowledge, clinical and research skills in the relevant discipline.
- Possess extensive experience in facilitating learning and teaching

- Have strong people management skills

- Sound knowledge of Human Resource Management, incl. disciplinary and grievance management procedures.
- Thorough understanding of financial management and resource allocation and optimization, including budgeting and expenditure control.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Education
- MBChB degree.
- A qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist or a recognized Medical Sub-specialty in the relevant discipline.
- A PhD in the relevant discipline or related health discipline will be an advantage.
- Registration
- Registered with the HPCSA as an Independent Practitioner.
- Proof of current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist or a recognized Medical Sub-specialty in the relevant discipline.
- Experience and skills
- A minimum of 5 year’s clinical work experience as a Medical Specialist after registration; or meeting registerable requirements in that category with the HPCSA; or holding a recognized sub -specialty in the relevant field with evidence of having managed a Clinical Unit or a Clinical Department.
- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience in teaching and learning at university level, with evidence of teaching and academic contributions in undergraduate and postgraduate medical programmes.
- Management
- A minimum of 2 years managing a clinical unit or a clinical department in the relevant clinical discipline.
- Research
- Proven track record of research output, research supervision and publications
- Valid driver’s license.

COREPURPOSEOFJOB
The Department of Human Movement Science is a well-established academic department housed in a state-of-the-art building. It has a recognized Biokinetics and Sport Science Unit (BSSU) and is an integral part of the Madibaz High Performance Complex. The Department is looking for an HPCSA registered Biokineticist with in-depth knowledge of growth and development and physical education. The incumbent will be expected to facilitate and administer the learning and teaching of students in modules presented at undergraduate and postgraduate level, to do research, to contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the Department and the University.
KEYPERFORMANCE AREAS
- Lecture in the various Human Movement Science under- and postgraduate programs and taking responsibility for, amongst others, but not necessarily limited to the following focus areas- growth and development and physical education.
- Be responsible for all academic related activities, including compiling course guides, manuals, lecture notes, assessments, and other related activities.
- Assist and be involved with research in the department and supervision of undergraduate and post- graduate students in research.
- Assist and conduct academic and operational administration.
- Identify students at risk, develop intervention strategies and monitor student progress.
- Participate in community engagement and service learning and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
CORECOMPETENCIES
- Good knowledge of the theory and applications of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the areas of growth and development and physical education.
- Experience in facilitating learning and teaching at a tertiary level.
- Proven ability to facilitate learning of students of large classes in theoretical and practical components of Human Movement Science.
- Experience with liaising with and developing partnerships with relevant stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must have the following:
Qualification
Be in possession of a masters degree in Human Movement Science (or equivalent). Being in possession of a PhD would be advantageous.
Experience
- Have two years experience in teaching/ lecturing and research at university level in growth and development and physical education.
- Provide proof of current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
- Provide proof of CPD compliance
- Provide evidence of liaising with relevant external stakeholders related to physical education and health promotion.
Research
- Have published research articles in recognised and refereed movement science, clinical or health-related journals, with a focus on clinical research or movement education.
- Provide evidence of having supervised postgraduate studies
Skills:
- Have excellent and proven interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff and the public.
- Have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point, Teams, Outlook) and Learning management Software.

The Department of Human Movement Science seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in the field of Sport Management, to contribute meaningfully to the academic teaching, research output, and community engagement of the department. The role is key to preparing graduates in the management and administration of sport across diverse contexts and settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating and administering undergraduate and post graduate teaching, supervising research,
contributing to sport management qualification curriculum development, and engaging in community and industry partnerships aligned to the sport management discipline.
KEYPERFORMANCEAREAS
- Facilitate teaching and learning in undergraduate and post graduate programmes, with a focus on sport management, and select human movement science modules and their application in a sport management context.
- Coordinate and deliver academic content including curriculum development, assessment design, and academic support.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate based research and promote scholarly activities within the sport management discipline.
- Contribute actively to departmental research projects and produce scholarly publications.

Experience:

- Minimum 5 years experience in facilitating learning and teaching in higher education, specific to sport management.
- Evidence of undergraduate and postgraduate supervision and scholarly output.
Research:
- Demonstrated research activity and ability to contribute to the departments research outputs and profile.
Professional Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to manage academic responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Engagement with sport organisations, federations, and NGOs.
AddedAdvantageExperience
- Minimum of 3 yrs experience in sport coaching would be advantageous.
- Previous experience in managing or coordinating sport management-related academic programmes would be advantageous.
- Previous experience in managing or coordinating international academic programme partnerships would be advantageous.
