- Addressing technical issues that may arise during deployment or repair work and escalate when necessary.
- Ensure regular feedback is provided to clients on individual project & task status.
- Dealing with client complaints and escalate to management when required.
- Promptly processing new & existing tickets generated by the ticket system, ensuring they are updated at all times and completed within the given timeframes set by the system or management.
- Accurately quote de/re-installation and repair services and submit to Accounts for invoicing upon job completion.
- Coordinate the booking-in of faulty Optix products with the Engineering Department and follow up to ensure timely turnaround.

Hardware Support Consultant and IT

Main purpose of the Job:
Responsible for installing and supporting Donkerhoek Data hardware, assists with maintenance and installations of computers, printers and networks and related software products to clients.
Duties and Responsiblities:
Hardware & Software support:
First and second line support on all Donkerhoek Data hardware, as well as related software. This includes fault finding and solving of problems that clients are experiencing.
Manage the following up of clients dealt with on support issues.
Assist support consultants / agents in any hardware related queries that they need assistance with.
Testing: Assist with testing of Donkerhoek Data hardware and related software.
Hardware installations:
Installations of Donkerhoek Data hardware and software products and related admin e.g. Licences, parameters etc.
Checking of shortcuts, network links and printers used by relevant hardware and software.
Installations on site, thus travelling is often necessary.
Preparation of installation package for new installations (manuals, testing of readers etc)
Arranging site survey and installation dates with clients.
Arranging dates with clients with regards to call outs.
Following up of clients for the first month after initial installation to ensure that they are satisfied.
Checking setups of new client.
IT:
Install and configure computer systems, hardware, software, printers, and peripherals.
Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure for optimal performance.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and network issues efficiently.
Implement security measures to safeguard company data.
Perform routine system maintenance and upgrades.
Provide technical support to clients and internal teams.
Familiarity with cybersecurity principals
Training:
Individual training of clients.
Presenting training classes for a group of clients. Includes setting up PCs, co-ordinating
necessary refreshments and printing manuals.
Presenting hardware training on all readers (and how it relates to our software) to all support
consultants including agents.
Other duties:
- Assisting with writing manuals.
- Assist with research and development
- To assist with related functions required to perform the above tasks.
- To perform any other reasonable duties as directed by Management.
- To be available to work overtime at the request of Management.
- To assist with special projects.
- Ensure that the confidentiality of all clients data is maintained at all times.
- Ensure that your tickets are updated with sufficient details and all admin tasks are always up to date.

To install, support, and maintain our clients Data’s hardware and related software solutions for clients. The role includes on-site installations, IT infrastructure maintenance, client training, and first- and second-line technical support.
POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Matric (Grade 12) required
- IT-related certification or diploma (e.g. A+, N+, MCSE, or similar) preferred
- 1–2 years in a technical support or IT technician role
- Experience with hardware installation and network troubleshooting
- Customer-facing experience is a strong advantage
- Installation and configuration of PCs, printers, and peripherals
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Familiarity with Windows OS, networking protocols, and basic cybersecurity principles
- Understanding of licensing, network mapping, and administrative tools
Technical Competencies:
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to support multiple hardware/software systems
