• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Must have Turf grass qualification & Horticulture Diploma
• Must have a valid un-endorsed drivers licence
• Must have at least 5 years experience in the management of maintaining a golf course
• Must be computer literate and have strong and accurate report writing skills
• Must be well groomed and be able to communicate with clients in a professional manner
• Must have a good track record and no criminal record
• Deadline driven
• Must have a passion for the industry
• Sound knowledge of machines used in golf course maintenance
• Detailed understanding of the game of golf & Construction
• Detailed knowledge of fertilizer, pesticides and herbicides.

• Maintains golf course to the highest standards as allowed by budget.
• Lead and manage a team responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the golf course, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Ensure that machine maintenance schedules are adhered to and operate golf course equipment
• Ensure proper care and continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Maintain critical operations such as fertilizing, spraying herbicides and pesticide applications to promote healthy turf and plant life.
• Prepare the course to peak for special events
• Walk and inspect every green twice a day
• Ensure compliance with Occupational health & safety standards
• Analyse and implement appropriate measures to optimize turf condition

We are looking for a person with drive and a passion to learn as the purpose of this job is to be trained to perform all golf course maintenance related practices.

We consider the following as essential:

Qualifications & Experience:

• Grade 10 or equivalent, coupled with general work experience;
• A valid driver's license will be an added advantage;
• No criminal record.

Duties & Responsibilities (areas and indicators listed are not exhaustive and may be changed / supplemented to accommodate business needs from time to time):

• Hand raking of bunkers and bunker maintenance,
• Grass cutting with ride-on / walk-behind equipment,
• Trimming verges/hedges,
• Rolling of greens,
• Hand watering and all cultural practices associated to a golf course,
• Operating a weed eater, flymo, blower and push mower,
• Sod work,
• Perform any other reasonable task as requested.

The successful candidate will be physically fit to carry out all reasonable duties associated with this role, and will be able and willing to work additional hours, weekends and public holidays. This job will also require the successful candidate to work in all kinds of weather conditions.

We consider the following as essential:

• Daily hand raking of bunkers and ensuring that all bunkers have a consistent depth of 110mm,
• Removing kikuyu runners, weeds, grass, stones litter, tree leaves and grass clippings from bunkers,
• Operating a weed eater, flymo, blower and push mower,
• To do sod work when required.

We are looking for candidates who have their own accommodation in George / surrounds, who are prepared to work weekends, Public holiday and shifts, and who are fit and able to carry out the normal responsibilities attached to this role.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SERVICE ATTENDANT

On arrival of your shift, you will have to:

• Report to your area and sign in for your shift
• Login to your booking system and tee sheet
• Print the tee sheet for yourself, the starters, the Marshalls and an extra
• Place the starters and Marshall's tee sheet on a clipboard for them to collect
• Check if there are any events
• Make sure the 2-way radios are charged and handed to starters and Marshalls
• Make sure your area is clean and equipped with scorecards
• Tidy all merchandise in the retail area
• Make sure your cash box balances
• Phones working
• Be ready to welcome your first fourball

On finishing your shift:

• Hand over to the next shift if relevant, and inform of any details needing to be dealt with
• Sign out on the register
• Be sure you leave your space neat and tidy
• Check your shift for the following day and confirm

The key to success is to listen, learn, grow and enjoy

Minimum Requirements:

Experience, knowledge, and understanding of golf and the etiquette around golf will be an advantage.

Must be fluent in English.

Work co-cooperatively with others in the team.

Have a willingness to learn and a can-do attitude.
