To lead and grow the organisation's public sector revenue across South Africa by owning strategy, sales execution, stakeholder relationships, and market expansion into national, provincial, municipal government, state‑owned enterprises (SOEs) and Healthcare. The incumbent will serve as the leader of the team primary responsible as the interface between AWS and government entities, ensuring compliance with procurement, regulatory and governance frameworks, while achieving aggressive revenue and growth targets in the public sector.
Key job responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Define and own the public sector sales strategy for South Africa (including segmentation of national, provincial, municipal, and SOE markets).
- Develop and maintain a public sector sales plan, quotas, forecasts, and pipeline targets.
- Assess and prioritise which government departments, municipalities, agencies and SOEs to target.
- Monitor political, economic, regulatory, and policy shifts that may affect public sector budgets, tender cycles, and procurement regulations, and adjust approach accordingly.
- Align with product, marketing, and government affairs teams to ensure the offering and messaging are appropriate for public sector buyers.
Business Development & Sales Execution
- Lead and grow the public sector sales team (e.g. senior account executives, bid managers) across the country.
- Establish sales targets, track performance, and ensure execution excellence.
- Oversee key account management for national departments, provincial governments, municipalities, SOEs and Healthcare.
- Ensure compliance with South African procurement policies, PFMA/MFMA, and B-BBEE guidelines.
- Work closely with partners, systems integrators, and consulting firms to accelerate adoption and broaden reach.
Stakeholder & Ecosystem Management
- Build and sustain relationships with senior decision-makers, including Ministers, Director-Generals, CIOs, CFOs, and SOE executives.
- Engage with key public sector bodies such as National Treasury, DPSA, SITA, and regulatory authorities.
- Collaborate with local and international technology partners to deliver integrated solutions aligned to government priorities.
- Represent the organisation in government forums, policy discussions, and industry bodies.
- Act as the spokesperson for the public sector business, promoting the company's thought leadership in digital transformation.
Operational & People Leadership
- Lead a team of account managers and partner account managers, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Recruit, coach, and develop talent to strengthen sales capability across the organisation.
- Ensure accurate pipeline forecasting, CRM discipline, and reporting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, legal, and finance to deliver on objectives.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and ethical standards in all engagements.

Basic Qualifications

Your Role

- Develop a robust network with regional leaders across various service lines, key client account managers, and Markets/BD leaders to strengthen the pipeline in the region and support essential sales and account strategies to meet and surpass targets.
- Serve as the go-to expert on the various indirect tax technology assets within the CoE, acting as the primary contact for member firms.
- Aid in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and statements of work (SOWs), as well as respond to RFIs/RFPs by clearly articulating EY's value proposition in relation to customer-defined requirements and suggesting effective solutions.
- Provide training to member firms on how to effectively position and demonstrate different assets to clients.
- Take responsibility for achieving sales targets in conjunction with the CoE Go-to-Market leader and assist the CoE Leader in reaching overall CoE objectives.
- Participate in champions calls to showcase tool advancements, address challenges, and share success stories.

Purpose
We are seeking an individual who brings a strong blend of commercial acumen and technical expertise, capable of managing key customer accounts while also understanding and addressing technical needs in processing environments. This position would be to support the Team Lead with the growth and development of Novonesis Oils & Fats in Africa, through a combination of direct customer and distributor management, identifying new opportunities. Roles and Responsibilities
Primary responsibility to manage direct accounts and distributors and accomplish sales, and profit targets in the assigned region for Novonesis Oils & Fats business.
Provide monthly sales/commercial updates and overall health of the business.
Develop and track and execute customer account plans to ensure aligned strategy with account team.
Co-ordinate and communicate all account activities and plans between customer, technical support and other internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
Have fair technical understanding of Oils and Fats plant operations to be able to conduct customer needs dialogue to identify pain points and translate them into potential opportunities.
Identify new partners/ distributors and unlock new opportunities through a combination of market gap analysis, Novonesis portfolio mapping and partner strength.
Collaborate with Novonesis regional and global marketing to formulate plans to grow the business in Oils & Fats via market share gain, penetration and innovations.
Drive sales via the One CRM system to track & maintain opportunity pipeline within the various opportunity stages.
Responsible for negotiating all customers and channel partners contracts to ensure alignment with targets and respective agreed pricing guidance.
Guide the potential market opportunities, whilst collaborating with regulatory to ensure smooth logistic operations of new products.
Work closely with demand planner to ensure updated customer forecasts, opportunities and demand plans
Be able to represent Novonesis on industry forums and be the voice of our solutions in trade shows and conferences, when needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of commercial experience Oils & Fats, or related industries would be advantageous.
Enzyme knowledge would be an advantage.
Willingness to travel extensively within the Africa region.
